Yes.

It’s like me with my 2 cats. One is a love and the other is the little bastard cat.

I don't think so! I have 4 children and love them all the same. They have very different personalities, so you can't always treat them the same way. Maybe that can be seen as favoritism, from the childs eyes, but as a mother I now see it isn't like that. I do love differant things about my kids and have one that is not making the best choices in his life right now, while another seems to have it all figured out. As the mother i try not to say things like" why can't you be more like your brother" or " i wish you would get it together like youre brother."
That will just make him resent his brother. Parents have to look at the kids for who they are and be proud of them for what they do.
There is no instruction book that comes with kids, so we just do the best we can. But know that there is nothing out there like the love you feel for a child.

I think all parents have a favorite child. It does not mean that parents don't love their children but there is always a favorite. Just like kids have a favorite parent.

Yes I think all parents have a favorite child , my mom has 3 kids total and I know she favors me because she told me so without letting my other siblings know of course. And the same with my sister she has 3 kids and she favors her youngest. And my grandma has 5 kids and she also favors one over the rest. I have only 1 child so I can't give you my own personal experience.

I hate when the parents say they have a favorite child it makes the other ones feel unliked, its not bad to have a favorite child... its just bad to say it, some parents joke and other are serious.

~Hope this helps!~

Some say it to reduce the tension of competition within the family setting. However, some of us, myslef included, do not acutally have a "favorite" child. I have three children and 2 step-children, and I care about them equally. I have one that I do not get along with as well as the other 4, but I do not have a favorite, as they are all unique and they all have qualities that make them special. I accept them for who they are equally, not who I wish them to be and "ignoring" the rest.

I agree it depends on the parent. My mother says her favorite is whoever she's thinking about or talking to at the moment. We all get equal favorite child time.

I think it depends on the parent. I think all children are the parent's favorite child at different times and in different ways, but I think not all parents recognize it.

I'm sure ALL parents have a favourite. The good parents just never let the kids know, bad parents however will often pit the kids against each other.
