I am a senior in high school and I am looking at going into the military. It's just an idea I have, I want to go to med school. I'm not sure if I want to stop at nursing or go further, but I want to know if anyone has been through this or considered this. I need advice, is it a good path to go?

It's a good path to go. The first step is to find out who has Medical fields. The Navy and air force. My friend that is also in the Navy was a HM. It is for the health field. You can get the experience in the Navy and then go to medical school afterwards with the experience and 100% tuition assistance. If you have any questions feel free to ask me, I am a senior in high school just like you and ready to join the Navy to accelerate my career. Also, my email is danvil11@yahoo.com or im screen name danvil11. Thanks ttyl.

The Army was for me. I had a lot of inside anger and was very hyper during my youth and the Army spread all of this anger and hyperactivity all over Ga. and N. Carolina. I got the structure I needed from them. The Marines I know are like a brother-hood to each other. The "Once a Marine, always a Marine" seems to be true. I only noticed this in the more advanced units of the Army and other branches. The Navy is very useful in any water-borne activity and their Navy Pilots are some of the best in my opinion. The Air Force was used to carry my unit all over the world in short notice and they are the front line in getting materials and troops moved in a fashionable, timely manner. The also have average pilots. I volunteered for many things while in the Army such as ParaTrooper school and advanced infantry schools along with earning the Ranger Tab. What fun it was. I would not trade those years for nothing. Good luck in your venture.

All the services are excellent starting points for a medical career and they will help finance your studies. Transferring from military to civilian nursing is a small course and a test away. if all you want is the education without the bullets you might want to consider the navy or air force keep in mind navy corpsman sometimes end up with the marines. A national guard unit medic would be a fountian of information for you. Best time to visit such a place is on the weekend when there drilling.

I think it's a good choice. I wish you the best :)

If u want to go into Nursing, look into the Army or Navy, Marines don't have that.

If u don't mind being on a ship for 6 months at a time, and u want to travel a lot, then Navy is a good choice.

If u want a challenge, be on land, get a good bonus and if u wanna be called a Soldier, then the Army is for you.

If u want travel, be part of the best, best uniforms, the proudest, and the toughest training: The Few, The Proud, The Marines are for you.

Good Luck in your choice! :)

I would definetly encourage you to join the military. I was in for 3 years in the Army. The medical field in the Army is a really good choice. I am sure that the Air Force or Navy is also a good choice but I cannot make a personal opinion on either because I was never in them. My e-mail is neilswife4always@yahoo.com

don't listen to red knight. if you want to be a nurse, your choices are Air Force, Navy, or the Army. depending on how much 'field time' you want to get. If you want to get tons of experience but live in rough conditions, go Army. If you want a nice clean work environment, but not quite as much experience, do the Navy or Air Force. the Air Force is about as close to a civilian job as you can get in the military. whichever one you choose, you'll probably get enough experience to get hired at most hospitals, it's just a matter of how much YOU want to go through to get there. personally, go Navy, you might end up patching me up one day! good luck.

I'd go for it! It's great experience and looks awesome on your resume. And besides, they will pay for you to go school.

Sidenote: Dark Side = officer LOL

I wouldnt choose any unless you like to be told what to do with your life. Go to school and get a real education, you will have enough to deal with while you are in school. Stay were you are a real person and not just a pawn. They just make the military sound good to sucker you in.
