I'm looking for a tried and true recipe that does not contain can soup. I have searched the net and I keep coming up w/ the same things. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Perhaps this will do the trick........(?)

1 1/2 pounds beef sirloin steak, 1/2 inch thick
8 ounces fresh mushrooms, sliced (2 1/2 cups)
2 medium onions, thinly sliced
1 garlic clove, finely chopped
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 1/2 cups beef broth
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup Gold Medal® all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups sour cream
3 cups hot cooked egg noodles

1. Cut beef across grain into about 1 1/2x1/2-inch strips.
2. Cook mushrooms, onions and garlic in butter in 10-inch skillet over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until onions are tender; remove from skillet.
3. Cook beef in same skillet until brown. Stir in 1 cup of the broth, the salt and Worcestershire sauce. Heat to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and simmer 15 minutes.
4. Stir remaining 1/2 cup broth into flour; stir into beef mixture. Add onion mixture; heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil and stir 1 minute. Stir in sour cream; heat until hot (do not boil). Serve over noodles.

Absolutely, it will make great beef tips and noodles. Any steak is normally more tender than other cuts you might use, and sirloin has a lot of flavor. Cut it up first, then cook it. The gravy would be best if you brown the meat quite heavily...this makes the best gravy from the drippings. Hmmmm, you've got me thinking about dinner tonight...I think I have a sirloin in my freezer!!!

cut up the meat in bite size pieces, and brown it in some oil. Add 4 or 5 cups water, and 1 beef boullion cube. Bring it to a boil, cover it, reduce the heat, and simmer it until the meat is tender. Add some chopped onion and cook 5 minutes. Add some sliced mushrooms and cook 5 more minutes. Shake some water and flour togehter as thickener, and stir it into the meat. Let it cook- always stirring, until it becomes thick. Take it off the heat, and add 1 cup of sour cream. This is beef stroganoff and it is great over cooked noodles.
