I had a falling out with a female friend. She believed that I had interest in her beyond that of a friend and I was just acting like a friend to get closer to her, eventhough I consistently denied it. I don't have interest in her in anything more than friend and I felt insulted that she would not trust me and believe that I was not acting with pretense. I stopped talking to her and distanced myself completely from her. However, I had one of those nights last night where I felt guilty for reacting so harshly and I do miss the friendship. So I sent her an e-mail apologizing for the way I had been reacting recently. I explained that I distanced myself because I felt hurt and insulted that she had not trusted me in the past. I apologized for expecting her trust unconditionally and not earning it. I also emphasized that I did not have interest in her as anything more than a friend and that I hoped things could be just as they were before. So what do you think?

She probably will, most people do. If she does, please send me an email. Don't keep apologizing, that will only aggetate her, give her space and time. I garantee that she would answer. Wait at least two days and she might answer. Be patient............ GOOD LUCK!

I am a little confused. Your comments sound like your a girl but if your a guy this is odd because most guys do not share their feelings so openly. Well good for you, she shouldn't think just because your such a good friend that you want her for more then friendship. She was confused so you shouldn't feel guilty, she should for completely taking the closeness you felt for her out of context.

manofglass... i am a little confused, did you lead her on in some way to make her beleive that you wanted more at some point? And maybe that is where she came up with this conclusion at. Maybe that needs to be addressed as well. You may not have ment to intentionally led her on but it may have happened in her eyes anyways. Maybe you should ask her that, to see if she felt that way. But yes I agree all you can do is apologize give her time and wait. Good luck but sometimes sorry doesnt heal all wounds.

If your friendship meant anything to her then she will forgive you. Her ego may be bruised a little bit, but at least you were honest with her. May be there were men in the past who pretended to be her frined but wanted more, so she just assumed that it was the same with you. I think she will forgive you.

Honestly, I think she might be disappointed, sounds like she was wanting you to have an interest in her beyond just friendship.

I think you did the right thing by owning up to your mistakes. i would give her time to think about the situation and your e-mail. i would not presure her too much. Just give her time and then try and talk to her personally about what had happened.

I think that she might not want to be friends simply because it is too hard for her to accept, based on her feelings for you. If she doesn't accept it, so what? Move on and let her heal.
