There a lot of costume online even off of ebay. My 10 month I couldn't decide and I actually got 2 costumes 1st one was a piggy....I have 3 kids so we were going as 3 little pigs and the big bad wolf. BUT...my older kids came up with wizard of oz..my 10 month is the cowardly lion. Other cute costumes i considered:
lobster,
lady bug,
monkey,
octopus,
flower,
bear
snail
The good thing about your child being this age you could really dress them up to what ever you want. The years to come they are going to want to pick out their own costumes.

When my son was that little (13 years ago) I used a snow suit his grams gave him. It was those oh so cute ones that looked like a lamb. It kept him warm and didnt (so I think) make him comfortable.

I did find a cute website (below) that has an assortment of costumes just for babies.

i dressed up my son as a mummy, he was about 3 months old. i just used medical bandages; the only downside was people kept asking "what happened to your baby?' i thought it was funny as hell. the next year i dressed him like piglet from winnie the pooh. i found the costume at the disney store.

My niece was a little chicken last year when she was about that age. It was so adorable. We taught her to say "Bock bock bock" You can find them at Target or Babies R Us. Any animal costume is darling on a baby that age. My little nephew is going to be Dracula this year because he has a little widow's peak.
