Recently lost one of my siamese,he was the male. My other two female siamese keep looking for him. they were all of the same litter and approx 4 yrs old. Was wondering if it would help to get another siamese male kitty to keep them company.

I think that the two cats you still have are going to look for and miss him for quite some time. I wouldn't recommend trying to replace him, cats don't usually like other cats unless they are raised together. At least they still have each other.

Am sorry about your loss

That is a tough one - and I'm trying to figure out that myself.

I had two Siamese mixtures (female) there were together from birth and I just lost one of them after 9 1/2 years. It's been 3 weeks and I'm strongly considering a replacement cat. The surviving cat does seem to "talk" more to get my attention and is spending a lot more time with me then before. I've purposely have waited a short while to see how she (and I) react to the lost.

I have been talking to the animal shelter on what would work best. I will probably get a male that is about 1.5 years old and is not very dominant and seems to get along with the other animals in the shelter.

In the past, I had positive results in getting a replacement - in that case I had a 12 year old DSH and he was obviously lonely, and after a month or so, I brought in two female kittens and it worked out great. In that case, I also knew my 12 year old had been around other animals and was pretty accepting.

Whatever you do - just take your time and do what you think is right. I don't think there is a 100% solution.

Good luck!

P.S. Found this on the web and thought it was interesting and addressed your question.

Grief is a process that cats and humans may have to work through. The timetable for it to be complete is different for each cat and/or human.

IMO you should wait until your cats return to some "normalcy" before you get another one. It can provide a distraction and it can also mean the grieving process will not have been completed.

You can give each of your cats (and yourself) a one-time treatment for Ignatia at the 30C dosage. You will have to find a local pharmacy that carries these homeopathic remedies.

You can also go to www.spiritessence.com to read about the use of flower essences for emotional issues in humans and animals. www.greenhopeessences.com is another source for learning about them.

Cats are ver much like people in the sense that they miss and even seem to mourn the passiing of fellow pets. It is possible the addition of another cat into the family would help to relieve their grievance or it may make it worse. There is no correct answer but to put yourself in their position.

Cats mourn the loss of a friend or family member just like people do. A new cat won't replace the old one. Give them time and they'll get over it.

not a good idea: there are two females and there would be one "infant" and they would end up fighting over who gets to mother the little guy.

Try instead to provide new interests to them - such as a new "tree" to climb or other toys to investigate. As with people, cats will take time to get over their grief. By providing these new interests you are taking their minds off the sense of loss that they undoubtedly feel.

you comprehend, at the same time as any such enormous volume of persons are abandoning pets, and any such enormous volume of cats don't have homes, this is magnificent that your cat replaced into/is so loved and cared for. no longer anybody has an proper puppy difficulty, yet that doesn't advise that they don't love their puppy. shame on each and every of the human beings who're so self righteous. Cats are exceptionally extraordinary animals. they prefer to be independent, and they act like they don't need their human beings, yet then they arrive wandering residing house searching like something the cat dragged in. Pun meant. when I lived in Detroit we "had" a cat. extra like there replaced right into a stray cat that we kept from the community youthful ones and who we loved very a lot. He got here residing house with torn ears, bent tail, and once he got here residing house with a damaged hip. We lived in an residing house that did not enable pets, and at the same time as we knew the cat should not be outdoors, he replaced right into a wild cat in the first position. no you will be able to have followed the poor element however if a guard were taking cats on the time. So, we loved him and fed him or perhaps took him to the vets at the same time as necessary. He frequently disappeared for a week or 2. in a number of of situations because he discovered some lady cat to woo. now and again because he replaced into injured and replaced into hiding. yet at the same time as he truly necessary us, he continually got here residing house. now and again somebody else might want to take pity on him and positioned nutrition out for him and he'd act like a touch beggar for awhile. now and again that they had even capture him into their residing house and verify out to fasten him up. in the journey that they could have made him a house cat, i might want to were satisfied for him. yet he continually were given loose. shop up desire on your cat, yet when he doesn't come residing house, do no longer overlook that some human beings upon searching a declawed cat operating loose will quickly take it in and sense undesirable for it. in basic terms because he doesn't come residing house does no longer advise he's lifeless. likely he's at someones residing house getting fat and spoiled and lacking you. yet he might want to easily be out being a cat, and could be residing house at the same time as he's solid and prepared.
