Now that most major American cities are recycling, are our landfills filling up more slowly?

Not really, population has increased, therefore so has trash. And since people are not required to recycle, not everyone does it. A lot of places also fill landfills with just recyclable material, saying that "they can did it up when they need the materials"

No. They quit recycling glass, the easiest material to recycle. The rest is just a scam.
Using garbage to fire electric plants is more effective, just not as cool.

that would be very nice to know; somehow i doubt it. but wouldn't it be nice?
