yes formatting would be the only answer. You could also install another OS, and from there delete all the windows folders. I'm not sure if that's really possible though.

Just boot up in linux and delete the winnt directory then go in and edit lilo boot configuration to not point to the windows OS anymore

why would you want to delete windows? Almost no program will work without windows unless you can come up with another operating program

You would need either another OS, or go to www.seagate.com to download Disk Wizard.
