ok so my friend told me that you can smoke cigarettes when your 16 but you can't buy them...?

is that true... thats like saying you can drink when your 18 but you can't buy alcohol...also i live in kansas so i didn't know if the law varies depending on where you live....

and i don't smoke i was just wondering... because i work at a resturaunt and all the time kids come in who look like they are 12 and smoke...

quit now while you can. i tried my first smoke at 14, was a regular smoker when i had my first job at 16, and now here I am, at 25, almost 10years later, coughing wheezing, hacking, always getting sick and paying 6 bucks a pack. To top it all off I have also dramaticly increased my chance of getting cancer (and especially heart disease, as a woman has higher chances). QUIT NOW while you are young. It's easier when you are still a teen, just like it is easier for me now than it would be as a 50 yr old-- IF i live that long. People used to tell me this crap when i was a teenager and i wouldnt listen to them, i had to learn the hard way and maybe you do too, but i implore you, beg you even, to quit now.

First off, you should be dubious when young people say things like that. Unless they are known to be credible, I would suggest finding out the answer of your question for yourself.

I am pretty sure that only adults are allowed to legally smoke cigarettes. Some states are trying to raise the minimum age of 18 to 21.

You can't really call that person a friend,,cause smoking kills its a fact so you wanna spend money to kill yourself,,how smart is that but if you do decide to smoke well it'll be yellow teeth and bad breath for you.....in Quebec you must be 18 to buy cigarettes....so only adults can kill themselves.......
