Evolutionists. I generally agree that people who believe in the truth are a tad smarter than those who buy into a lie.

It is not a matter of intelligence. There are many scientists in every branch of science who believe in the existence of God.Does that make them less intelligent? Evolution has never really been proven, because it is untestable. Noone has ever observed the process of evolution at work and cannot even prove that this process is an ongoing endeavor. Is it really so far-fetched as to believe that there are other possibilities barring evolution?
I have done much research on this subject, and I have studied both sides of the issue. I have kept an open mind to all the data from Evolutionists and Creationists alike.I have cross-referenced everything I've learned and have come to the conclusion that evolution has so many inconsistencies that it really makes it quite hard to take at face value.Although Evolutionists claim that the theory has been proven beyond doubt, Creationists have in turn proven its inconsistencies.I would love to list all evolution's errors here, but it would take too much space. The only way anyone will obtain ALL the facts about evolution is to do their own UNBIASED studies on both sides of the issue,Evolutionists and Creationists views to evolution. Most people are taught in school and from television and museums that evolution explains our universe and all living things and that evolution is a proven fact, and they believe it,because if it's taught in school,it must be correct, right? They have not been told about the problems with the theory of evolution, nor have they been given the opportunity to study the concept of " special creation" as a legitimate alternative. And those who continue their education stick with what they have been taught, and close their minds to other possibilities.any Evolutionists themselves have come forth and admitted their bias and the bias of their colleagues. Some have even admitted that their approach to evolution has not been scientific or objective at all. Many admit to the severe lack of evidence for evolution and that they have accepted their conclusions only because they are unwilling to accept that evolution never occurred.
" The more one studies Paleontology, the more certain one becomes that evolution is based on faith alone." - T.L. Moor
" The only reason why most people seem to believe in evolution is either because they WANT to believe in it or else because they have been cowed into accepting it out of fear of being called ignorant or reactionary or some such fearful name."
" One is forced to conclude that many scientists and technologists pay lip-service to Darwinian theory only because it supposedly excludes a Creator."- Dr.Michael Walker

So,again I'll say that it is not a matter of intelligence for either the Evolutionists or Creationists. It's a matter of supplying oneself with ALL the facts from both sides, and make a logical conclusion. The only way to do this is to study both sides objectively and without bias. I think that once a person actually studies each and every viewpoint, they are finally going to be able to discern what is truth and what is just common, unproven belief.

Well, people can be smart about some things and dumb about others.

... I just can't get my mind around the idea that "God did it" is a great intelligent well-thought out concept. I mean, what's wrong with the idea that Genesis is allegory?

Also Creationists have a habit of not knowing anything about the concept they so strongly oppose, and end up sounding like idiots even if they aren't.

Got to side with the scientists who arrived at a theory through research. I'm sure the Creationists are very smart in other areas.

Surprised to see you here sans avatar!

However, I'm not sure what you're using as a measure for "smarter." IQ? Better functioning in the world? Better functioning in relationships? Better problem solving skills? Better informed about science? Better able to deal with the idea that death is the end of life? Better able to manage their anxiety if there is no deity guiding things?

When it comes to my car, my mechanic is MUCH smarter than I am. However, I'm pretty savvy when it comes to my job, too. I think people who believe in creation or people who accept evolution are each trusting those who have read more than they have to have discerned the truth. I'm not a biologist, I can't understand much of the biology texts, but I know I trust the scientific method in discovering truth. And oddly, because I know a lot about the Bible and Christianity, I trust both of those less.

Does that make me smarter? Probably not, just better informed. Almost everyone has the capacity to reach the same conclusion if they can deal with the ambiguity of existence and the anxiety of godlessness.

Creationists.

There's no such thing as an Evolutionist. The so-called Scientific Creationists created "Evolutionists", blind followers of Darwin, so they wouldn't sound so dumb. I suppose it worked, so even if they blindly spout meaningless rhetoric, they've convinced people that they're smarter than their fictitious counterparts.

i think the evolutionists are smarter. The creators have one idea that they hang onto which is quite simple, god made the world etc etc. The evolutionists on the other hand have had to research, come up with evidence, prove it & have to continually find new things to support their side. And all this in the face of centuries of people thinking that god created, and that is wrong to suggest othewise.

I don't think it is a matter a smartness, due to the evidence (or lack there of) on both sides it takes faith to be an Evolutionist or Creationists. The support for a undisputed answer for either side is just not here. Both sides lean to science to partially support their belief. The only difference is Creationists embrace the fact that their belief is built partially on faith while Evolutionists try to hide this fact. In any case if you are going to base you're decision on partial science and partial faith then you should do so unashamedly because it is what you believe.

There's no such thing as an "evolutionist".

Assuming you mean "Who is smarter, people who accept the fact that we evolved from earlier forms or those who deny it in deference to their religious belief?", it's clear that in general, it's those who accept the fact.

I can imagine exceptions - for example there are smart people right here on Y!A who accommodate evolution with their religious beliefs - but it's clear that the creationists are generally simply people who aren't very bright.

1 Corinthians 1:27 states:

"But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty;"

There are great minds on both side of the issue.

Most think that to believe in Evolution you must be an intellectual and to believe in a creator God you must be less so. But I have seen both on each side who could not defend their views beyond "that's just what I believe".

I am a Christian and believe that God created the world in six, 24 hour days.

I wonder if those who stereotype Christians as ignorant get offended when minorities are stereotyped?

"As a Christian there isn't any longer something you are able to say or do which will convince me that evolution is the way existence befell on the planet. I in simple terms see to many holes, 2 many gaps, to many fake solutions like the (peppered moth). i don't have self belief it." and that's the place i finished analyzing. anybody this ignorant would not need to be replied yet i'm going to purpose. technology deals with actuality. Evolution is actuality. faith deals with myths and fairy thoughts. understand now? in case you nevertheless don't get it, study Trithemius's respond. It hits the nail on the pinnacle nicely.
