I'd say that Emirates was the better airline - it has fantastic service and is very comfortable. Also, the connections in Dubai are better than than those in Qatar. Etihad is fine and has OK connections, but I still think that Emirates has the edge.

Hi madeeha, I work for Emirates. Like it was said before, we obviously do not work in water but if there is an emergency with no doubts if an emergency arises and you are over water, you won't get away from it. Besides there is a small detail about the training that you should consider before you applying, there is a day simulation about ditching in which you will be required to jump in a very cold pool along with your colleagues and simulate sea survival techniques and then get on a slide raft. If by any reason you cannot jump in the water, then that's a fail mark and of course dismissal from the training. Sorry if I am being too rough, but it its the reality. Now, you may get away with your fear once you are flying since chances of having to ditch are minimum, but the first question you need to ask yourself is, Will I be able to jump in that pool as a start? Needless to say that Emirates would not compromise its safety records by selecting someone who has waterfobia, this is a very important safety issue and emirates takes it very seriously. But who knows, many times we overcome our own fears when there is a need to. So, good luck and hope this helps a bit.

Emirates - I fly from Thailand to the UK every summer. Always take Emirates - good food, entertainment is brilliant (games, films), flight crew fine, aircraft clean. Priced right, too. Shoddy frequent flyer program, however.

Emirates for me - I have flown them three times now between London and Bangkok and will be doing so again in December. I have flown Qatar once but their service isn't anywhere near as good. I can't comment on Etihad though.

Best airline? Or Cheapest fare?

Emirates is fine. But seats are 'tight' in economy , of course.
Etihad is the new runner so they strive to be better than others. Qatar is better than Emirates but Doha airport is in the midst of upgrading so not the best place for transits.

Gulf Air is fine too.

But honestly, best for you might be to fly direct on Thai Airways. Their seat pitch for economy class is 34" which is more than most carriers.

Emirates is a very good airline. I usually use KLM to Bangkok because of connection to Humberside. KLM also fly to a lot of other regional UK airports.

The best one would be Thail airline. You pay a bit more but with a 12 hours flight you want the comfort.
