She is doing this to get your attention because she isn't getting it as often. And she's probably a bit jealous.

There could be a lot of reasons your cat is behaving this way, and needing attention is only the tp of the iceberg. You must still give her attention and NOT ignore her just because you now have a new baby. Why not call your veterinarian and ask him or her. I hope you have a veterinarian for your cat. Many cats place things in their food bowls in houses where there have been no recent additions (a baby). Check with your vet. And don't leave the cat and the baby alone together. Some cats become VERY JEALOUS and attack when there is a new baby. Others don't. Just be cautious.

She may be calling out for some attention if she hasn't done this before. Next time your out and about, buy her some special treats, catnip or a new stuffed toy, make her feel special again. She used to me your baby and a new guy moved in and took over. Good luck.

She is probably acting out because she's not used to the new addition to the family. Pets can get jealous and possessive, too. Just make sure the cat doesn't become aggressive and tries to scratch the baby.

She needs attention. She's obviously bored and she's not getting enough exercise either, so she's found a way to get your attention. Find ways to play with her while watching the baby or when baby's taking a nap, and reassure her that you still love her.

looks like she NEEDS attention. Give her some love. Try not to leave the baby alone or the cat might attack the baby to assert its dominance.
I dated this girl once and her cat got jealous she peed around the couch i sat on then bit me on the leg.
Sorry cats and babies do not mix. Even our obstetrician lists cats as risky for pregnant women.

Yep. Try and make some time for the cat. Late in the eve. On your lap with some brushing and such. She will enjoy the attention.

Yes she used to be the center of attention and now she isn't anymore...she is taking the baby's items to show that she is jealous of her...just be sure to set aside special time for kitty

You just answered your own question. Now that you have time for your baby, your cat is making time for herself. See if you can talk with an animal trainer or behavioralist to help correct the problem.

Indeed.
Make time for your friend; she does not understand why you don't play with her any longer and is showing her bewilderment and anger .
Also get her some special treats to dole out, and a couple of new toys that you will introduce slowly.
(This playtime will also help you to de-stress.)
