I advise against it. I am American with a husband from Iran. We have been married for 15 years, and have three children. Although we have stuck it out, it has been very tough for me. He is a wonderful person, but the culture is quite opposite from ours. When I took a trip to Iran last year, I finally saw the culture first hand, and was able to understand why there were so many things that never made sense to me. It doesn't matter how great he is, the cultures are too different.

Mixed as in an Afghan and an American....no prob.

Mixed as in a Muslim and a Christian....that could cause problems later down the road, especially if y'all have kids. Since you say he wants to convert, sounds like the problem is solved.

Although, I must say, conversion to any religion for political causes might not be the right reason, do you think?

If he is a nice guy who treats you well, don't let your family's ignorance stand in the way of your happiness. Try to explain to your family how much he means to you, and let them know what he will do to be accepted.

Don't let what your parents think affect your relationship. There's absolutely nothing wrong with mixed relationships.

If your happy, then that's all that matters.
