I went to a baseball game almost 3 weeks ago and the woman serving me food must have had a cut on her finger because there was a small amount of blood on the spoon she had given me. I did not realize it until about 5 minutes later and I had gotten it on my thumb. I don't have a cut on my thumb, but I do have one on my index finger. At some point I touched my thumb near or on the cut. I don't know if the blood was completely dry by then or not. Do you think that it is possible for me to have HIV? It has been almost 3 weeks and one of the lymph nodes on the left side of my neck is tender and swollen. Please help.

The disease dies in the air within three seconds. It cannot survive in the air. You could be getting sick from a cold from touching a doorknob and then your face or from stress.

Believe it or not, HIV is actually a bit hard to catch. Each drop of blood contains very few of the pathogens needed. The problem with HIV is repeated exposures increase your isk geometrically!

The odds are incredibly slim that you got HIV that way.

However, Heptitis is a LOT easier to catch that way- there are millions of the pathogens in a drop of blood and it is a far more aggressive disease. Still unlikely in this case, however.

I'd see the doctor about the lymph nodes and tell him about the blood- but the two are probably unrelated.

HIV is a very weak virus ,it can't live except in fresh body fluid .f you're saying it was dry, there is not chance to catch anything from it ,the swollen lymph node in your neck is reactive to some local infection, check your throat and your mouth cavity for some regular infections

for one, do you even know if the lady has aids herself? two, do you really know it was blood? I mean it could have been something from the food maybe, or since she was serving something from other food.

also, 3 weeks is not long enough for any symptoms to develop. your lymph node is probably swollen because you have a cold or some other ailment.

I doubt that the indication you mention is HIV but blood which is not exposed to the air can carry HIV. If you have real doubts get tested but wait at least one month and test again at 6 months

Good grief.....no. But I would call the stadium manager and tell them about the incident. If your glands are swollen, you probably have a simple virus. It's not AIDS. But if you are sick-go see your doctor.
