This sounds silly, but I need my kitchen timers. I have 3 of them. If I don't use them, I usually overcook things. My husband on the other hand has no need for them and just wings it, and everything turns out great!

So, do you go by kitchen timers, or wing it?

I work in a research lab and I am used to timers.

Is very convenient and is errorproof. You will never burn or overcook something with a timer. No room for error. As they say on TV : set it and forget it ;)

Timers are for people who don't know when something is done and are taking other peoples word for when it should be done!

In Meat you should go by internal temps with a instant read meat thermometer......vegies by look smeel and taste...and pasta by the feel...for baking the time should be approx...i set a timer when baking for a samll amount ahead of time then check to see if it is done.

I use timers because I often start doing something else and frequently forget the stuff cooking on the stove.

Definitely timer - I'm usually multi-tasking and forget things in the oven or on the stove if I'm not babysitting them.

I do both. Some times, the timing must be dead on as with a 3 minute egg. Other foods go by sight (till golden brown)
