One without belief in a god or gods. Of course there is also strong atheism, weak atheism, implicit atheism, explicit atheism, ignosticism and apatheism.

Strong atheism: the belief that no deity exists. It is a form of explicit atheism, meaning that it consciously rejects theism.

Weak atheism: the absence of belief in the existence of deities, without the belief in the non-existence of deities.

Explicit atheism: refection of a belief in a god. This deliberate rejection of theism presupposes familiarity with theistic belief.

Implicit atheism: absence of a belief in god without explicitly rejecting or denying theism. This form does not require familiarity with the idea of a god.

Ignosticism: the view that the question of the existence of God is meaningless because it has no verifiable (or testable) consequences and should therefore be ignored. It is often considered synonymous with theological noncognitivism (the argument that religious language, and specifically words like "god", are not cognitively meaningful).

An apatheist is someone who has little or no interest in deities to point that he or she does not care whether deities exist and, typically, is not interested in deciding whether he or she believes in deities. In other words, an apatheist is someone who lacks belief in gods and lacks interest in gods to the point that he or she doesn't bother to determine whether he or she actually disbelieves in gods.

Atheism is the disbelief or non belief in the existence of deities. It is commonly defined as the explicit (i.e., conscious and deliberate), positive rejection and denial of theism; however, numerous atheistic philosophers and groups prefer to define atheism as the simple absence of belief in deities(cf. nontheism), in some cases designating people who have never heard of gods, such as newborn children, as atheists as well. Theological agnosticism is commonly contrasted with the former, narrower definition, as a position of uncertainty or indecision between atheism and theism; on the other hand, under the latter, broader definition, many agnostics qualify as atheists. The former defines atheism positively, as the belief that no gods exist; the latter, however, defines atheism negatively, as the lack of belief in gods. In recent years, some atheists have adopted the terms strong atheism for the former and weak atheism for the latter to clarify whether they consider their stance one of positive belief or of negative unbelief.

Atheist n A person to be pitied in that he is unable to believe things for which there is no evidence, and who has thus deprived himself of a convenient means of feeling superior to others.

Born Again Christian, atheism is lack of belief.

Faith alone does not constitute a religion. Saying 'you have faith you must be in a religion' is pretty freakin stupid.

And anyway atheists don't have 'faith' in being without belief in god. They are just without belief. I don't have to have faith in the absence of belief.

theos is is god in greek. atheos is the opposite. therefore it means without god. Atheism, "one who does not believe in God" is the only way to save mankind. No more people will die in the name of God, a backward ideal and people can concentrate their time and money on saving their lives and bodies, not their souls, which don't exist by the way either.
