I'm taking my parents to the Metropolitan opera on Saturday for the matinee. It's a big deal for them to be in the city (they live 4 hours away). I've lived there, so I'm jaded. I'm looking for something moderately priced, but something they can tell their friends about.

I was thinking Carmine's in Times Square, but the wait's long and we'll have a long drive back home.

Any suggestions?

I would take them to Golden Corral, if you have one near by you. I would say that is the best place in the world to eat at.

The Palm Steakhouse or The 21 Club. Both New York classics, unforgettable but pricey. However how often will you attend the opera with your parents? Check out the Pre Fixe Menu about $40. per person for three courses on the first Floor and parking is validated free.

If an early dinner is an option (don't think they are open for lunch on Saturday), although it is a bit pricey what about Nobu? I can't think of a more beautiful place and the food is exceptional. Also, with all of the celebs that go there, it might add to their "New York" experience. There is one around 57th between 5th and 6th Ave too, but I personally prefer the one on Hudson.

I am a huge fan of the Greenhouse at 110 CPS. It is in the same building as Ducasse but much more price friendly. Nice place to sit and watch the handsome cabs go by at the park and they have a nice "greenhouse" hence the name interior.

Enjoy!
