I'm not trying to be mean or rude. It's just that nearly every single person I know who is gay or has had sexual relations with the same sex was either sexually or severly physically abused by a parent or family friend. Do you think there is a link between the two? If so should we raise an eyebrow when teens pronounce their homosexuality, and look into what might be going on at home?

It is linked! In psychology you learn how "for the most part" males who don't have a strong male figure and who tend to act feminine and the mothers are always too protective the male is more likely to be gay. For a female if the motherly figure isen't around or not strong and they tend to act boyish and masculine they will tend to be gay. Also, when a child is abused by an adult of the same sex the chances of them turning out gay are higher than average.

Child abuse cannot be linked to homosexuality, even if there is link between the two.Violent behavior can also result from child abuse. We should not raise an eyebrow when teens pronounce their homosexuality but maybe look into what's going on in the home.

No.

Well, I mean there may be a correllation in some cases, but I don't think it's causative.

I know a great many gay people, both men and women, and none of them have been sexually abused.

None of the men came from homes with absent or effeminate fathers, or overbearing mothers, either.

Many scientific studies suggest that homosexuality, in lots of cases, is determined in the womb through either environmental or genetic factors, or both. It's not a choice, and it's not a disease, and it's not the fallout of a terrible experience. It just IS.

N o I don't that someones sex preference will determine wether or not their abusive. It might be more common but typically abuse comes from the experiences in their life and how they were treated. If they have been emotionally abused then they may feel that treating their kids the same just is an easy way for people to get out their frustration but abuse is never okay no matter what. But overall it isn't theie sex preference it is their history and how they feel about themselves.

It's clear that some homosexual people have been sexually or physically abused, but I know several that never suffered any abuse. I also know several people who were sexually or physically abused and are heterosexual. I think more teens are coming out because it's a more tolerant environment than it ever has been.

it is first and best, abuse. Then it is statutory rape. Then it is an older man or woman dominating a youthful one, taking income of a trusting dating. Then it is violation of celibacy. perhaps someplace down the record, homosexuality is in touch. We ask those human beings to ritually mutilate our male toddlers, for the sake of a "covenant with God" (it does strengthen wellbeing, if the adult males do no longer sparkling below the foreskin oftentimes... there's a *reason*). it form of sounds like some threat of an association...

I do believe it has some link. I have a brother who is gay and that was sexually abused by a neighbor friend of ours when he was a teenager.

It has been known to be linked. I was abused as a child but Im not a homosexual. I truly think it affects men worse than women.

That's odd. None of the gay people I know were sexually abused. Regardless of that, people dont turn gay all of a sudden..it's not a choice.

yes i belive that the two of them are linked. a person gets a great fear of the sex that abused them and belives in there head that everybody of that sex is like that. some can over come it and other become a homosexual.
