Just curious. Once reported that there are as many 6000000 gods and goddess in India. They have Gods for anything and everything. Is Hindus faith that thin? Or they are insecured bunch?

Not to insult tho. Curiosity wont kill the cat. Coz cat have 9 lives hehe!

It's nothing to do with thin faith or insecurity.

The Hindu religion is complicated. Basically they believe that Brahman (the sole God) is too huge and too powerfull to conect to. You can't see Brahman, nor can you feel his presence, because he is just too much for our tiny little heads to imadgine.

So he has avatars, the Devi's and Deva's (God's and Goddesses) who represent different parts of him. That way each hindu can conect to a certain part of Brahman and be apart of his world.

It's a strange idea. Hindus are not polytheists. They are monotheists. They beleive in only one God, Brahman. They just split him up so it's easier to worship him.

There aren't. God for Vedantins,(Hindus), is a supreme order, something that delivers the most appropriate result for any action. Can you imagine praying to that? It's be ridiculously difficult. So, attributes people felt were "god like" were assemlbed into the "bazillion" gods you see. Since everything is a manifestation of God, inclination towards doing the least harm,(ahimsa), came about. So no, there isn't,(for us), one god, or many gods, there is only god, which is why I can pray in a mosque, church, synagogue without viloating some dogma.

maybe Hindus simply have a rich imagination, see deity in everything. i like the Hindu myths. they're fun, lush, colorful, complex, imaginative and just plain weird ... kinda like a sci fi novel.

(no insult? "Is Hindus faith that thin? Or they are insecured bunch?" if that ain't an insult what is it?)

BTW ... Yahweh wasn't always a monotheist god. he used to part of a pantheon of gods and goddesses. in fact, Yahweh used to have a wife/consort named Ashera ... a goddess ... "The Tree of Life"

why are multiple gods "insecured" or "thin?" What's so secure or thick about monotheism that monotheism always has to shove itself down everyone else's throats?
