I have been taking water pills for almost a week. I have increased my fluids, but am still only urinating 2-3 times a day. (My usual) I am only taking them per the instructions (one capsule every 6 hours). Am I abnormal? I only lost 1 pound this week....and it is a bit discouraging. Any ideas? Thanks!
(I am also combining healthy eating & exercise for my weight loss efforts..btw. I am not relying soley on these to lose weight!)

Go to the store and get a bag of fresh lemons. Use half a lemon per LARGE glass of water.

Fresh lemon juice is a wonderful diuretic and it's cheap.

Other than that, if you really want to lose weight, you need a diet. Losing water weight is only going to help you a slight bit. Very very slight. You need to lose fat. Get some exercise, but remember, you don't have to pay for it. Turn on your favorite cd and dance for 20 minutes straight every day. Free and just as good as ANY workout machine.

Skip the S's. NO: soda, sugar, seconds (helpings of food) or salt.

The water pills will have no effect on your overall weight loss. All they will do is help the body eliminate a bit of the excess fluids. The pills will not eliminate the fluids your body needs to function.

So, the continued use of the diuretic will not cause you to lose more than a certain amount. The pills will not give you any dramatic weight reduction after the first week. The one or two pounds of water weight you may lose each week is the same one or two pounds. You are constantly replacing the water you lose.

In any case, water weight is not fat. Real weight loss is loss of fat tissue. Burning more calories than you take is is the only way to lose fat. You can actually gain temporary body weight and still lose fat. The one or two pounds of fat you lose each week is one or two NEW pounds lost. The idea is NOT to replace that lost fat with new fat.

This is the reason real weight loss is calculated over a period of severa weeks, and not day to day, or even week to week. It wiil be the downward trend that shows true weight loss.

In other words, three pounds down and two pounds up, every other week, over a period of 10 weeks is still a 10 pound reduction.

The water pills mean NOTHING.

what is considered healthy eating? there's only really one healthy plan.

provided as a schematic via your tax dollars. www.mypyramid.gov and why are we taking a diuretic?

one shouldn't be taking water pills... it's not healthy unless you have a retention issue that's legit. which is causing health issues such as hypertension and stupor, other diseases relevant to water retention.
