What do you think?

I think that>>>>>
I would save a Pet/Animals life before I would save a human
And if I Need CPR and someone saved the Innocent Animal First
I Would Understand.......The reason I feel this Way is Because Animals are treated like Sh it And if they were not treated so badly Than I would probobly save the human first but the way things are today It is only fair we treat Poor innocent animals first

That is why my twin sister and I are Half way to becoming Vetrinarians ...We are in our 5 year almost there

Well, if my house was on fire, I'd save my cats before my husband; after all, he has thumbs and can open a door for himself! (I'd want to know he was safe, too, but I'd get the cats out!) I think animals should be cared for because they are helpless to care for themselves. A child can ask for food, a cat or dog can only look at you and make sounds that you can't interpret.

You got interesting answers so far. I love pets very much, have always had a dog and I believe at least dogs can be much better friends than humans. Up to here. As someone has answered, I'd help an animal before a human if it is about a lazy adult person (depends on situation), but I would not think twice if I needed to decide between animal and a child. Why? Simply. Look, a child is helpless, not guilty for being thrown into this world, he/she cannot help himself until he/she is adult, and since me, you are a human being we should first care about a child and then an animal. And not to forget, animals cannot help us, while humans can and we never know when we will need help. Let me also add that I admire your decision to be a vet and help animals out there. We humans many times, too many, neglect them or even abuse them. Good luck with studies.

Wow, so if a human baby and a dog were trapped in a burning car and could only save one, you'd save the dog? What if the choice was between YOUR child and YOUR dog?

Don't you think that many humans are treated like crap every day as well? Think about the homeless, the starving people in developing countries- shouldn't they deserve some dignity?

I love animals. I have a kitten who I spoil rotten with love, the best food, and care. I applaud you and your sister's love and dedication to caring for animals, but for you to pick an animal over a child is reprehensible.

People who elevate animals to human levels have some type of mental defect. I don't mean it in a nasty way; but there is no way on earth, an animal is more important than any human's life. To past by an innocent starving child to feed a dog is absurd and lacks rationalization. That very child, that's overlooked could in fact be the person who discovers a cure for a disease; saves many lives in a heroic act; prevent animal cruelty in the future; be responsible world peace within a war zone; or could be the one person to provide CPR, in your time of need. No animal, could provide such services!

A lot of animals are treated like sh1t. So are a lot of people. If the child is starving it is in that state through no fault of its own. The child is too young to be held responsible for the predicament he/she is in and has been dealt as rough a hand as the dog. I can (just about) understand elevating a dog's importance up to that of a human, but not above.

First of all, I like animals but as I live in a small flat in a big city I don't have pets because I don't think it is fair to them. Animals need space (even goldfish).

What "your" gran did is basically what happens every day (so to speak). Millions of children in Africa and Asia are starving, have no access to clean water or medical care and thousands of them live in slavery but in the rich West we spend billions of dollars on cat and dog food.

Millions of children are being treated like sh it and are often a lot worse off then pets in the Rich West. I think it is obscene and immoral because in spite of liking animals I believe humans and particularly children should come first.

If there was a burning building and I had to save either a baby or a dog (and there was no chance of saving both of them) I would go for the baby and NEVER think twice!

If there was a serious risk of getting injured myself I would not even attempt to save an animal but I would try everything I could to save another human being.

But perhaps that is just a personal thing...

I think you're NUTS! That's what I think. Animals are NOT more important than people! They're ANIMALS! If anyone is able to pass a starving child to give food to a dog, then they don't have much feeling or compassion! And I don't really care how animals are treated if you are walking past a starving child or helping an animal over a person. I hope your twin is never in a situation where she needs your help to live and a cat is injured as well. I guess the cat will get your help first and if your twin dies in the meantime.....Oh well!

I think the child ought to be fed before the dog. Children aren't able to provide food for themselves unless they steal or beg. Dogs have more options for getting food because often, they can hunt other animals. In my opinion, the child is more needy than the dog.

I do agree with you that animals need to be treated well. And that can happen by teaching children to respect all living things. At the same time, I put a higher priority on human children verses adult animals.

I think you both are what is wrong with the world. It starts with humans. We are the ones who can think and do. Why make a sweet Innocent child suffer for a adults stupidity. Walking past an adult that can work and feed themselves I would tend to agree with you but a child come on where is your compassion for Innocent life?

I think the value of animal life is not on a par with human life, by a long shot. Animals should be treated humanely, and with kindness, but their lives do not carry the same intrinsic worth as humans.
