Don't go and don't feel guilty. Just tell them you want to stay home tonight but would like to join them another time.

If you don't want to go, definitely don't go. I change my mind all the time. I'm sure it annoys people, but I am a grown person, I refuse to do what I don't want to do, if it's not something important.
Depends on your reason for not wanting to go I guess. If you just don't want to go, just say so. If you'd rather just stay home and relax, just say so. If you don't want to go because you'd rather hang out with someone else or something, that is kind've a sticky situation, if you lie you might get caught and you will feel like an idiot, so it'd be best to tell the truth, even if it might hurt the person's feelings.

If they are your friends you should not have to lie. But then again friendship grows with wisdom. As you become wiser you learn the true meaning of friendship. I think we are to quick to call one another our friend. To often people don't even know the meaning of friendship. It comes with understanding, support of each other, acceptance in all situation, judging not, honesty and truth, no guilt should ever be apart of it. And these are just some of the things that friendship is about. I think more people have acquaintances then friends. If you don't want to go out just say so no excuses needed they shall expect you or not why lie. O what tangled webs we weave. I would not want to be the friend of the friend that lies to me.

Wow. You are already dogged by guilt, aren't you? Unless your friends all depend upon you for their pleasure, I am pretty sure you have nothing to feel guilty about, if you are honest. Honesty, in a well delivered line, is best.
If you aren't up to enjoying yourself with your friends, tell them so, and be sure to let them know that they would have a better time without you, because that is the truth of the matter.
I am sure they will be able to live without you for a night.
Remember, nobody thinks about you or what you do or say or think quite as much as you think they do. They will give you about two minutes of their time and then move on.
So, enjoy your night at home, guiltfree.

I would never feel guilty making a choice not to go out with friends, tell them you are staying in.

Honesty is your best policy. Always tell the truth. If their any kind of friends, they'll understand or try and get you to go out with them anyway. I had a friend like that and if it wasn't for him, I would of never met the love of my life because I really didn't want to go out that night.

Just tell the truth and promise to go out with them next time. If they are your friends, they will honor you feeling. If not then you have no friends. Go look for new ones that will understand your mood

I always had friends that understood the truth. I could say, have fun guys, but I want to stay home. Good friends want what is best for you and lying to friends is no way to have a deep friendship.

Be honest and tell them the truth. What kind of friends would they be if they got annoyed or angry at you for wanting to stay home? Everyone needs some 'me' time.

There's no need to lie. Just say something like, "I think I'll stay in tonight. You guys have a great time."
