I have this weird diarrhea-like stools. When I sit in the toilet I let out a lot of gas and when I push. The stools are very mucousy and I noticed yesterday some blood in the stools. I went to the doctor Friday because its been going on for so long. I had to bring stool samples and they gave me some pills just in case its bacteria-related. They also took out blood. The only problem is that I have to wait 2 weeks for my results which is a long time. I feel that I can get worse in that time (which I am. I am now passing blood... when I went to the doctor it was just mucous in the stool). Has anyone had this similar experience? I am drinking Gatorade because the dr. said I could be losing a lto of electrolytes. I have never gotten this before. I am 21 years old. Also, sometimes I soon as I eat I have to go other times I am fine. But then sometimes I'll go 10 times in one day! last nite after I went a few times I noticed the blood when I would wipe. Help!

It sounds like your doctor is doing the right workup. The first thing is to determine whether or not you have an infection. This could be from a parasite or bacteria. There is no way to speed up culture results unfortunately. You should know within a week (2 weeks is a little long to get results).
Don't worry and be patient. If the bleeding is excessive or you have other symptoms (feeling lightheaded or faint), then you should see your doctor immediately or go to the emergency room.
If the stool studies come back negative, then your doctor will likely send you to a Gastroenterologist. You will need a colonoscopy to look at your bowel and get biopsies. You are the right age for Inflammatory Bowel Disease (i.e. Crohn's disease or Ulcerative Colitis). These are autoimmune diseases that would need to be treated.
Hope that helps and good luck.

You need to see your doctor right away. It is the same symptoms I had with colon cancer. Your doctor can give you an occult blood test, if proves positive, you will need to have a colonoscopy. Don't wait do it right now. Make an appointment now. I waited and almost died. I had bowel recection chemo, and radiation. they didn't think I was going to make it but I did. You can too, but the sooner you have this checked the better your chances are. I pray for you that it is not.
