I have scoliosis and havent been able to see a doctor in years. I just had a baby four months ago and feel that my back has goten ALOT worse...Im in severe pain every day. I dont have insurance and cant afford a doctor visit much less any surgery i might require. Are there any type of free clinics or anything that I might be able to go to for an evaluation? Im in Louisiana.

There are programs out there you can apply for to qualify for benefits allowing you access to a Dr. of your choice. Call the we;fare dept. and ask what those are and the things you need to apply. If you are in severe pain..go to the emergency room. They absolutly have to treat you- it's the law. Usually the hospital has a program wothin for low income poeple that will pay for your visit. All you have to do is ask. Also you can call any Dr. office and ask what they charge for a first visit- then ask if they can recommend a place that charges according to what your income is on a monthly basis. Let your fingers to all the walking and look under physcians in the yellow pages look for big ads about services and low income requirememnts. There are also many programs out there that will help you get your medications for free..Montel plugs a program everyday on his show-- good luck and go get seen.

Very few doctors will help you if you don't pay.

You need a chiropractor, some of them are really nice, they might be willing to work something out with you.

If you are in the US and need emergency medical care a hospital cannot turn you away even if you do not have insurance.

Doctors are not free. You don't pay as long as it's covered under OHIP.
