Those bald patches are called "tonsures" and were (are, maybe?) shaven in the head to induce or receive "enlightenment" from heaven...

Hair traps sweat and heats you up unnecessarily in warm environments, as well as being a nuisance to look after. Shaving your head keeps it cool and is easy to maintain. Not sure about Christian monks, but that's why Buddhist monks are bald.

1st corinthians 11:7 says for a man indeed ought not to coverhis head forasmunch as he is the image and glory of god but the women is the glory of the man . maybe this is another example of where men try to put there theolagy in some kind of tradition so that they can understand the simplicty of christ and combine the two together to come up with some kind of equal coexistents cuz thats just what man does when he doesnt understand something so he trys to change it so he can .

New (Franciscan) monks actually will shave their head in example of St. Francis. He did this to simulate the crown of thorns that Christ wore - in homage to Him. Many new monks will do this for their first year, after that some choose to keep it, some not.

They either shave if their heads are full of hair or they have a 'rim' inplant if they are bald LOL!!! Think about it!!!
