We already have immigration laws. The problem is that they have let so many illegals come in and not pay taxes and drain the system with medical, and social welfare, that we have a problem on our hands. The democratic party wants to give them a free pass, while all others that came into to the country legally paid their dues and waited their time. So, any further changes, will be debated.

There's actually many laws that pertain to the immigration process, already on the books. The REAL question is IF or WHEN some of them might actually start to be enforced, and whether the states can unify themselves on the issue to develop a good approach and deal with the issue effectively.
