Yes I have. One precision, "indirect cooking" is when you place a container with water in the CENTER so that the heat boils the water which in turn convects the meat and does not burn it too quickly over flames. I used a rotisserie with motor that rotates and I placed the bird to one side (no flame) and the aluminum container with water on the other (full flame), it takes time, my bird weighed 8 lbs and it took about 7 hours to cook but the smokey taste and the juicy meat were worth it, Check often to not let the water completely evaporate and refill.

All the time, not just for Thanksgiving.
clean grill, prep the bird (seasoning, how you like the bird)
Make sure heat is not high, you'll burn the bird and the inside will be raw. Start early, it's going to be awhile, Hours.

yes it is easy ...especially if you are using a weber grill. Just make sure you cook it indirectly.(coals around the ouside of the grill with vents open and lid on) For great recipes go onto www.weber.com
