Mine react to the tv more than music. If a funny sound catches their ear, they will sit and watch tv for a few minutes, looking for the sound to come again! :-)

It is said that dogs like the same type of music as you do, because you listen to it very often. The reason why they might be acting strange is because the different velocity of the music notes, since dogs have better hearing than humans.

I have four dogs, and have raised dogs all my life, and I'm a music buff. My dogs like music. Although they don' t like all of the same music I do at times. It depends on what I'm playing. If I play Enya, they will lie down and go to sleep. If I play some rowdy rock, they will wrestle with each other and bark. Music has the same effect on your dog as it does on you. It's the primal beat of the music that effects them. The beat of the songs change the ryhtm of their heartbeats as it does our. It can lift their spirits as well as calm them. Such as the saying,"Music has charms that soothes the savage beast." It actually states "Breast" but it also works with animals, plants and more.

My dog reacts differently to different types of music but I think it's mainly because I react differently. I guess I am kinda flaky, but if it's a good song that I like, I will play it louder and possibly sing and dance along. Then, my puppy gets worked up also and thinks it's nothing but play time and it's a big ole rowdy household.

Haven't had mine long enough to know. Cooper is a 7 month old lab/boxer mix. I turned on classic rock for him the other night when we left because he's been having issues with separation anxiety....and when we got home, he was asleep on the couch....and all of our shoes were sitting where we'd left them! Yes! I told my husband the music would help....he didn't believe me...psh!
