Cold sores come from a virus that is actually a form of Herpes.
Outbreaks can be triggered by stress, irritation of the lips, and yes, temperature. If your lips are dry, use lots of chap stick to prevent cold sores. Best of luck!

Cold sores, also commonly called Fever Blisters are caused by Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1
The Virus will be reactivated if your Immune System is down, i.e.
under Stress, Sunburn, Fever from any contagious disease, like the common Cold.
Virus is highly contagious and easy to transmit, especially when Blisters are formed ,mainly at the Upper Lip. It can be spread by touching and kissing to any part of your Body.
There is no cure.
Medications ,like ointment, relieve the pain .
Very helpful is Acyclovir an Antiviral Drug. The Drug prevents the Virus from multiplying and can reduce the symptoms and frequency of recurrence

caused by herpes simplex virus #1. yes, weather can start them.the virus is stored forever in ur body, most people get hs 1 in childhood.exposure to bright sunlight is a strong trigger to re-activate this virus, causing a cold sore, also called fever blister.any weakness in the system can call it forth as well, for example if u have a cold or the flu.or other health problem causing ur immunity to temporarily decrease,or certain medications that reduce immunity,a fever blister can develop.once ur body is strong and healthy again, the cold stores stop-untill just the right opportunity, they come back again.something like 80 percent of world population has them at one time or another.

It's a virus, you carry it in your body and many things make it erupt--stress, heat/cold, etc. Hate to tell you this, but it's the herpes virus. Don't freak out, it just happens.
Don't kiss anyone while its there, and do not touch it and touch your eyes--in fact, wash your hands. Take some lysine (amino acid) and keep the area clean. Put some bacitracin (antibiotic ointment) on it.

NO its a virus. The viral infection lives in the nerve root and flares up either on its own or during times when your immune system is weakened.
