I will be leaving for Oahu tomorrow and will be there for 6 days. I am going to help my sister with her new baby but hope to spend two days or nights seeing sights.

I would appreciate recommendations for

The best Beach-least crowded with tourists. (I am coming from essentially Wisconsin and can see fat tourists in bathing suits at our indoor water parks!)

Best Recreation options; perhaps kayaking, surf lessons; snorkling, or ?

Least Cheezy Luau!

Best Sushi/Best Seafood resturant. I'm looking for the best food-I don't care so much about the atmosphere provided it is not a shopping mall food court type.

Best Nightlife-bar hopping plan (prefer locals to tourist traps)

THANK YOU!

The best luau is Paradise Cove.

First time to Oahu? If you don't like crowded beaches stay away from Waikiki. Sunset beach is beautiful.

The Arizona memorial is a great experience.

Near Waikiki, about 1/4 mile from the Ala Moana Shopping center is the Kewalo Basin harbor - para-sailing, snorkeling and SCUBA available there.

One or two nights...oh please...you are kidding yourself.

I've been back since I lived there as a child, about 3 vacation times and 14 days is not enough for such a beautiful, real blue water scene.

From the Honolulu area, there's a Ship, the Star of Honolulu and it has a lunch tour, with great views out to diamond head area....it's worth the price and much cheaper than the expensive dinner cruise, and it has the same food, and has a hula dance learning experience, and learn to make Hawaiian necklaces out of orchids, etc. It is well worth the cruise....good food, and great entertainment.

Waikiki beach is great...if you want snorkeling there is public transportation to everywhere!!!!...very inexpensive and clean since it is subsidized for tourists by all the taxes.

The Hilton Hawaiian Village on Waikiki beach is the hub formuch public transportation to everywhere on the island..it has a small side street where you wait for tours and tourist buses....very convenient....and it has tons of places to eat.
There are maps everywhere for the buses, and trolley's and open-air (no window) trolley's....but you must make sure you know where you are going...everyone's busy and many times too busy to help you...so you're on your own.

There are places to go snorkeling...away from the waikiki beach area (nothing's more than 45 minutes away...don't forget this is an island), and there are....swim with the dolphin areas on the other side of the island too....some expensive ($50, $100, $250 per person) but it's the chance of a lifetime.
Make sure you don't go to any tourist area....and they are plentiful and beautiful.....without eating something first....sometimes there are lines...and sometimes not so many lines.

Best show is at the Polynesian Cultural Center.....and it's worth the money....again long lines so plan accordingly.

Also the trip to the US Arizona Memorial (and when you get there the military takes you on a medium boat to it.....great but the lines are long so plan accordingly.

The luau is a planned time, no matter where you go, and you get a warm dinner plate of food (not so good) put in front of you at a certain time....It's poor or very poor quality, so don't expect anything, but some book just for the "I went to a luau talk back home".....very poor quality...don't say I didn't warn you.

There are tours and public tour buses everywhere, just don't expect any help from others unless your sister or her husband is associated with the military and they have their own tours.

Skip Hanauma Bay....It is not like it used to be. Water is murky, not as many fish and they charge way too much for what you get. For great snorkling go on a boat tour or else fly over to Maui for the day or two days so you can see some of the island too. The flight is under $100 each way (around 80 if you book online) and the snorkling in Maui is sooooo much better, and free! The best beach we went to was Kapalua Bay. It is free to the public and the snorkling is great.
If you can't get to Maui, stay on Oahu and go to Halona Cove instead of Hanauma Bay. It is nearby Hanauma and not very popular b/c you have to climb down to get to it but soooo worth it. It is where they filmed "From Here to Eternity" and is beautiful...there are often turtles there too!

Hawaii is the 50th state of the United States of America and is found almost at the hub of the North Pacific Ocean thing that produces from Hawaii a good choice for an incredible holiday, with hotelbye you will learn more. The normal beauty of the islands continues to be among Hawaii's best assets. One of the most interesting places to go to in Hawaii is Volcanoes National Park. That group provides a unique, up close search at an energetic volcano and the recent landscape made by a volcano. Warm lava runs down the pile area, and dry lava covers the road, featuring their unstoppable force. Yet another place worth visit could be the memorial Visitors Center, a middle that gives famous home elevators the Harbor and the Japanese assault and the Battleship USS Missouri.

best beaches w/out the tourists would be sandy beach past hawaii kai. great beach w/a long stretch of white sands, but a little rough to swim in. best for sun tanning and checking out the local boys there body boarding. all beaches have a lot of tourists, but that's the place w/the least of them. if you want to check out surfer's and big waves, sunset beach and pipeline is great. instead of spending money on snorkel tours, go to hanauma bay right before sandy beach. admission there is i think $3 and you could rent your snorkel grear there or get it cheaper elsewhere. i'd recommend getting your own snorkel gear and using that for your lifetime. there are a lot of tropical fish there at hanauma bay and it's really calm there. luau's are best according to their price, you get what you pay for. sushi is best at akasaka in keeamoku. also, i used to work at sushikoh in waikiki and they have excellent sushi, but it's a whole in the wall restaurant and there's always a line out the door so you'd have to get there early or make reservations. that's only if you like the fresh fish though, so if you're looking for more of the rolls or cooked sushi, then sansei would be a great choice for rolls. local clubs that are happening w/the locals are ocean's, zanzabar, pipeline, w, and brew moon. tourist trap clubs would be, rumor's and the wave. hope you enjoy your stay on oahu, aloha!

Honolulu has it all. Discover that place with this hotelbye small help. Honolulu is the house of a number of Hawaii's most ancient places. From Iolani Palace, the Kawaiahao Church, the Hawaiian Mission Houses Historic Site and Archive and the cherished artefacts of the Bishop Museum to famous landmarks like the Aloha Tower, the King Kamehameha I Statue, the Duke Kahanamoku Statue and the historic Hawaii Theatre, Honolulu has, certainly, plenty of intriguing places. Honolulu is also the Hawaii's hot spot for arts, tradition and entertainment. One of the places you can't skip from your holydays in Honolulu is Waikiki, the main beach location of most persons going to Honolulu and the island of Oahu. That place is known for their large crescent shaped beach, where visitors arrive at rest out in the sun, swimming, and learn how to surf.

contact platinum tours, they have a tour that takes you snorkeling, glass bottom kayaking, boogie boarding, and rowing ... really cool ... and they take you in a SUV limo. (It's actaually really affordable) Also, they have a tour that takes you all the way around the island and you get to go by Pearl Harbour ... Atlantis submarines on Waikiki beach is really cool too, they take you underwater in a sub and you get to see a small plane wreck and if your lucky some sea turtles ... really cool :)

There is sooo much to do on Oahu.
