It's different for different people and different pregnancies. When my daughter was born, I bled for almost three weeks, had a week off, and then bled again (which the doctor counted as my first after-baby period).

It has been almost 32 years ago, but I believe it was about 2 months, and as the time passes, it subsides a little each week till it just stops one day. But some women bleed more, some less, & it depends on the circumstances.

I bled for a horrible, horrible 7 weeks! Then 3 weeks later, my first period came! It felt like a prison! I was told you usually bleed LESS after a c-section because they can take more out, and massage your uterus manually to contract it, which they did. My daughter was born via c-section. My friend delivered naturaly and she was bleeding for nearly 10 weeks before it stopped. Good Luck!! Check with your doctor too!

My bleeding (after a normal birth) was about the length of a regular period, and then very light spotting for another three weeks or so.

Usually anywhere from 2 -6 weeks. Most people are done before their 6 week check up. If you are concerned because you are bleeding longer and heavier than you think is normal, you should consult w/your doc.

4 weeks is normal, or at least for me. Stitches n everything!
It's like having a super long period, but you are a little more sore and walk kind of stooped over.
I hate seeing hollywood people with their bodies back and walking around like nothing 2 weeks after they had a baby...yeah right unrealistic!

Everyone is different. I've heard anything from 45mins to 10wks. There is a wide range of normal. It's also normal to start and stop again with your lochia. With my first I went straight from 8wks of bleeding into first regular period. With my second I bled for 7wks. And back to regular periods at 3mths With my third I bled for 5wks then a week off then again for 2wks and didn't have first period til 7mths. With my fourth I bled for 6wks and at 3.5mths I don't have my period yet. All my births were spontaneous vaginal deliveries (SVD) and drug free.

Anywhere from 2 -4 weeks usually. You can control this somewhat by firsty, breastfeeding often, and secondly, relaxing and not over-exerting yourself ( which can cause you to bleed quite red after days of slower flow )

6-8 weeks is average. If you're too active though, the bleeding can start up again.
