More people seem to be addicted to salt than pepper. I always grab 1 salt and like, 4 pepper packets because I know there's a lot in the salt packet and tons more in whatever I'm eating.
Plus, I love pepper.

We live in a sodium saturated society, most things we eat is processed and are loaded with sodium,I guess the companies that are packaging the salt think that people are so use to eating such high does of salt in our everday food that that's we crave.
Pepper on the other hand most people don't like so I guess why there's only a little in a packet.

Salt is a lot less expensive than pepper.... doesn't take much pepper to flavor your food .....throw the rest over your right shoulder for good luck!!

probably because pepper is more potent than salt, so the average 'serving' of pepper required to add flavour to food is less than salt.
Plus salt is a lot cheaper.

pepper never really truly digests in your system, so limit intake if you can.
