Sounds like obsessive-compulsive disorder to me. I have it, and I count syllables as people are talking and form patterns from sentences and the amount of syllables they have.

Either its an unconscious habit or a symptom of OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder).

no one can answer that .
but people think and do all sorts of thing in that mind of theirs,,

its proberly a habbit from a long time ago and its a constant now .
