Sun StarOffice is an suite of office applications that are supposed to include all of the benefits of OpenOffice, but in a more user-friendly way. Really, it's just "prettier".

Google has also entered the word processor market, but their application isn't one that you install. It's a web based word processor. It's not as functional as Word, but it does provide a lot of the most commonly used features -- and your documents will be available anywhere you've got an internet connection and a modern browser. It's a swell idea, and it's a pretty reliable service.

you should try http://openoffice.org - - It is free and works very similar to word and office. You can open word docs and save them in word format.
