I would say, give or take another 30 years. In Florida for example, especially in Miami, the Cuban population makes 82% & 67% don't speak a word of english & claim Florida to be their Cuba. english is a 2nd language there & u must learn spanish ,if u plan on moving there.I almost got beat up there cuz not speaking spanish does upset them. Bush to get their vote, had to say few words in spanish during his candidacy for president. The hispanic will take over cuz they know how to make babies & lots of them. I see a hispanic couple,in their early 20th & surrounded by kids.

I agree, and I would say that in SoCal, Souther TX, and South Florida another 10 yrs and it will literally be a Spanish community. And its just sad that America is letting it happen. The immigrant thing already gets on my freakin nerves, but if they are gonna come here they should HAVE to speak English. It sucks trying to go to a Burger King (this is in freaking KY!!!!) and everyone working is damn Mexican and it takes forever to order b/c they dont hardly have a clue what im saying....

As long as the language of money and big business is English,Spanish will remain the second, third whatever language. When will you understand that numbers do not equate to power.MONEY is power and its in the hands of a few not the many. And trust me you can not take power without money. The money is still controlled by the people that use and speak English.Tell me why do you want the USA to become just like the 3rd world country you left.
And Florida and California are only a small part of the entire US population.Do you really think that if in fact the "white"man was afraid of this that he couldn't,wouldn't do something to stop it.They have power ,that means they can stop the reproduction process with the right drug put into the right food that are produced.Don't think they are incapable of that kind of act because they are. They infected blacks with syphilis years ago, they had people made sterile.Do not underestimate your enemy.Just some food for thought. Why do you think most Americans don't really trust our government.I'm not saying it will happen but it could happen.Don't think the man in power will just go away.He will fight and he does fight dirty.because he fights to win.

English is the number one world language in business, science medicine, transportation. It doesn't hurt to learn Spanish in the south western states. Not to worry, school kids are eager to learn English and Spanish speaking families encourage it. Get over it.

I suggest that all can learn English...! A decade ago to learn English, you had to attend costly English classes or purchase course material like tapes and books. Now you can learn English for free from the comfort of your home using the Internet. The BBC and the British Council offer a number of on line courses, which teach written and spoken English. You can also improve your English by watching television programs and reading English newspapers. For more information, visit http://tinyurl.com/qnzpt

Not likely to happen because only the recent immigrants and the stupid and elderly speak Spanish. The people who are more intelligent eventually learn English, the elderly die. The stupid people have children who only speak English.

It's like any other immigrant group, by the time the second generation is grown, Spanish is no longer spoken in the family except to grandma. Don't you know that?

I oppose states and cities that tolerate/anoint themselves 'sanctuary cities'. I think they should recieve NO federal monies whatsoever until they evidence a clear understanding and willingness to comply with immigration laws. I think of illegal immigration as a self-perpetuating and subversive influence, and it's kind of time to table it so the whole country takes a good hard look at the issue and does one of those majority vote thingies. But, good luck getting people to switch off ESPN to talk about demographics and the law...and there's a whole pro-illegal lobby out there, too, and they're promoting their agenda daily.

Face it, other countries know we're suckers for a sob-story, and it's easy to hit us up for money. That is, unless people buckle down, and start hitting the books on this issue...

November will be pretty interesting, I think, candidates are being asked about their stance on immigration, and what their proposals/concepts are in dealing with the issue. Time will tell...

English won't be secondary for a long time. English is the language of business and computing. We'll always need these things. We may be a bilingual country in a few years like canada, but don't hold your breath waiting for english to be secondary. Probably not in our lifetimes.

No. English should be the #1 language here in the US. The Cubans need to go back to Cuba, because Florida doesnt belong to them.

I can see your point and english it seems is becoming more and more of a second language in our own country. We have kids going to school and if they can't speak english that is ok we will speak spanish for you and all that.

I have no problem with imigrants or others but I do have a problem with "illegals" they don't seem to understand the word illegal and they are breaking the law.

Well, they say Indians are our fastest increasing immigrant group, even above Chinese as of this year. On the other hand, Indians tend to come here wanting to succeed and willing to speak English, so I don't see a lot of pressure from them for us to change our language. I'm not sure it will ever happen.
