Depends on the where you will be living (either on or off-post) and the rules about sponsorship. If you are on orders to go somewhere, I would check with your sponsor.

Leogirl08...answered this by saying most Military Families can't afford a nanny, and I would probably agree with that for those that are stationed in the States, but in many overseas duty stations, we make a lot more money! Even the enlisted! We are are stationed in Italy, and it's true that my husband is higher enlisted, but even E-4, E-5 and E-6 make really decent money over here! For instance, when you live off base over here, your housing allowance is completely tax free! And there is the cost of living allowance and a lot of other benefits of living overseas. Unlike in the States, even Military Families dental is completely free overseas.
Ok, with that said, I have two friends that have live-in nanny's over here. One has a girl from Germany that was placed with them through an agency. Of course, they can't live in base housing, so you'll have to live out on in town, and if the nanny is being placed by a ligament agency, they are going to make sure she has all her paperwork in order, especially if she's coming from another country. My other friend has a girl from here in Italy, and she really like hers. She has actually watched our kids for us, and I adored her! I never leave me kids, but I felt really comfortable with this particular girl. Both girls also speak very good English, and had complete background checks ran on them.
What they pay them is very reasonable, and far less then what a live in nanny would make in the States. I find that common with a lot of jobs like this over here. It's the same with people who come in and clean your home. They require less pay then those in the States do. Don't get me wrong, they can live off the pay, it's just cheaper then what I've seen back home. Now, I now no matter where you live overseas, you'll make more money, but I don't know if all the nanny's and other domestic help is as cheap as it is here. I had a friend tell me that it was also cheap in Spain and Greece to hire help, when she was stationed there.

Depends where you are. In the Far East it is easy and cheap. In Europe it is more difficult and more expensive - but there is an Au Pair system that can be used.

on base? pretty near impossible, as only authorized dependents may live in housing. you may not add a non relative as a secondary dependant.
off base would be slightly easier. but only slightly as there are laws about who can work on the economy, and if you brought one over with you, you would have to foot their entire living expenses, their visas and cover their insuarnce needs as well, they would NOT be authorized to use base facilities.
