If the bible really had all the answers it would be as thick as the world itself. Just as any piece of history it is subject to opinions, tall tales and ignorance at the time of writing. If you look at the bible woman is inferior to man, slaves are okay, someone can kill as many people as they want and just asked to be forgiven and its okay but then again an eye for an eye??? So when should a passage be taken literal or metaphorically and who has the right to determine which, when? Blind faith is one thing, ignorance and willing to accept anything just because of the source is another. Unless your read Hebrew you are only reading some peoples interprutation of the bible anyway. Catholics changed the bible many times. No one on this earth was there, no one here knows anything for sure. I’m a Christian but the last thing I would do is be so sure of my interpretation as to force it down other peoples throat, how the hell do I know for sure? Keep your Christian Jihad to yourself

I would speculate and say, that for most it is a matter of validation. They push their faith because it gives them reason to believe. If they save one person as they believe themselves to do, then the feeling of helping their fellow man would supersucceed any doubts they had about their faith. I think to some degree it is very difficult anymore to know what to have faith in besides the good doings of yourself and being an example to everyone no matter what your religious preference is.
This to me would be the path of god, in which it would seem that some atheists have achieved. I wish you well.

You sound really confused and perhaps a little upset. A Christian is a follower of Christ and one who believes and has faith. Even however people interpret the bible, it all pretty much says the same thing.
You can only read and study into it yourself and go with your own interpretation of what you think it means. We all do our best with understanding Gods word and I think that anyone who is trying their best will be rewarded.
And I agree that Christians shouldn't push. I feel that Christians should just be their own being and love one another and let God be God.

May I correct one thing?

The original Scriptures were written in Hebrew and Greek. The words we read in say the King James or even the New King James are TRANSLATIONS and NOT "interpretations" as you have stated above. There is a huge difference.

There are many great literatures that have been 'translated' into english. I suppose you don't want to give any of those a read either because you feel they are instead mere 'interpretations' of the author's original intent?

Please know the difference between TRANSLATION and INTERPRETATION.

PS One can use a Concordance which is a large book that has every single word of the Bible in English organized so that you can look up its original Greek and Hebrew word along with its definition in those languages. Therefore we do not even read the English "translation" blindly as we disect even that back to its original text and definition.

three things 1) you don't sound like a christian and 2) if the bible isn't all correct (which it is) then why should we trust the Koran or some other book like that? if you really are a christian then you should be standing for what you believe not dissing the bible or giving non-christains something more to benifit from in not wanting the bible! 3) church is NOT A CULT! and if you are a christian you don't have to go church. i'm a strong christian and i do not go to church. in fact i hate the idea of a church and religiosty. does that mean i'm not a christian? of course not! it just means i don't like what the church has become and i want to be able to be more free in my worship-zone, and i want a closer relasionship with God than what the churches give. hope you can think on that for a while and i hope God does marvoles things for you in your life! GOD BLESS!

These "truths" of the Bible are, like you said, an opinion. These being, your own opinion. (No offense, brother).
I do not share the same interpretation of subjection to women or slavery, etc... If a person is unsure of what a verse means, "tuck it away" and maybe a clear interpretation will someday be made known to you.
There are still basic truths that a person can follow and if you stick to those and live as Christ showed us, how could you go wrong?

Speaking of interpretations the one that seems to have caused you to get riled up is the one about witnessing. I assume you know what is often preached about witnessing but a thorough study shows that we should witness as we go, which is to live a christian life and as we proceed show people by example and when we see an opening along life's path to explain things to the prospective seeker.

Since you put it out there you are along my path. Gently speaking it might be a good idea if you as a christian spent a little time each day reading your Bible to show yourself approved cuz to me it sounds like your preacher does not know of which he speaks cuz there are several areas where in your statement that you are in error, and had you read the scriptures as part of a daily routine you would know that. Until you have done that please do not tell others you are a christian. Bush told that to us all and he is a terrible embarrassment. Don't be a Bush. You will be forgiven for where you error but don't bring shame on us please.

Hmmm... where to start? Similar to what you have just done with this question, some people do voice their opinions with confidence. I believe it's only considered pushing is the other party believes something else with just as much conviction. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (commonly referred to as Mormon) and I agree that members of our faith do "push," if only because they believe with conviction that their faith is true. You feel strongly about what you believe, and others do too. The key in life is not to take any of this "religious talk" personally. It's just talk, debate, expression of opinion.

As for the bible being wholey correct had having all the answers...anyone who's read the bible will tell you that the answers are not spelled in black and white. Those in the bible where the most righteous at the time. Even with all the corruption.

"We belive the bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly...."

Everything in the world is subject to opinion. Aren't we glad, we aren't lemmings?

I think you had better do a faith check, because you certainly do not come across as a Christian.
As a Christian you should not be swearing.
Jesus told us to tell the world of Him, if you are not willing to do this shut up and do not call yourself a Christian.
The Bible IS THE 100%TRUE WORD OF GOD.

I don't agree with people push their beliefs down other throats. However if you had a pill that was hard to swallow but would save a persons life that had a seriously painfully disease would you share it or fear that it would choke the person? Witnessing is different than shoving it down someone throat. Witnessing is offering the pill pushing beliefs is trying to force something that is not welcome. Jesus said if I be lifted up I will draw all men unto me. The problem is not everyone lifts Jesus up the lift their interpretation up!

I've had all your questions in the past and they have been answered a long time ago. 2000 years of Christian theology and we still don't have everything figured out, but most of your troubles were put to rest many years ago. Go talk to your local pastor about it sometime. I'm sure he'd be able to answer many of your questions better than myself.
