Have you gotten your flu shot? Has anyone had problems getting one? I am a hospital employee and I didn't get one, I personally don't care that much..but how many people actually worry about it?

I actually had the flu last year and was soooo sick for like a week and then weakened for another week at least. I work in a healthcare position and probably should get a flu shot, bit every time I've had one I've gotten sick shortly thereafter. Coincidence? I don't know, but, no, I won't be getting one.

The company I worked for before I retired would provide flu shots for the employees. The first shot I ever had made me so sick I told my wife to get a piece of paper and write down what I wanted each member of the family to have because I wasn't sure I was going to survive ... I felt that bad. That was about 8 or 9 years ago and I've gotten one every year after that with no problems. This is the first year of retirement so I don't know if I'll get one or not. I'll have to find out how much they cost. With some of the answers I have read I don't know that I need one. Maybe I just need to stock up on some Vernors Ginger Ale and see what happens huh?

To quote the comedian Lewis Black: "I once got a flu shot, and it was sh*t! I didn't get a flu but I had a cold, I had a cold for 365 days! I couldn't get the flu because I had a cold. So next flu season, I'm not getting a flu shot!"

I personally have not gotten a flu shot, but then again, I don't have health insurance. But if I did, I still wouldn't get it. The flu doesn't worry me, and if it is time for the next pandemic, I doubt the flu shot would do me any good against that new strain.

my parents used to have a job where they had to get the flu shot, and every year they would get REALLY bad sick the week after. then after they no longer had that job, they quit getting the flu shot, and guess what they no longer got sick like that.
Now I am NOT saying it made them sick, I am saying they reacted that way to it for whatever reason.
I personally do not get the shot, I don't care anything about it, some things like that, frankly I don't see much of an improvement whether you get it or not, so why get it?
If you are in a position where you should, like coming in contact with alot of people who have the flu, then perhaps you should. I don't know, just my little humble opinion

We have 4 people with asthma & 1 medic (who gets coughed on all winter) in our family so we get flu shots.

But Fred K is right, the current flu shot won't protect against the so called "bird flu" H5N1 virus if it becomes pandemic. They would have to make a vaccine for that strain of virus. (That would take 6-9 months.)

It does make some sense to get a regular seasonal flu shot because of the potential of pandemic flu though - which is still out there.

If a person gets the "regular flu" and gets infected with H5N1 at the same time, the viruses could swap genes and H5N1 could become more easily passed from person to person - that's one way that the pandemic could start.

I have never really worried about it therefore I have never gotten one (also a hospital employee). BUT, I have been infected with the flu each of the last 4 yrs (twice in one year). It sucks but I am still freaked out about needles LOLOL. Pretty stubborn...

If you're young and strong you don't need it. I'm 15 and very healthy, I got flu recently. It was unpleasant bu not the end of the world. I just took loads of echinacea and vitamin C (you can't over-dose on these) and I was fine in a few days.

I'm 25 with an excellent immune system... I don't really see a need since I'm healthy and can fight off flus easily.

I'm not getting one. I have a 3 year old in daycare. Any possible virus that is out there I have been exposed to 10 times already!
Plus, doesn't a small % of the population get sick from the vaccine? No thanks!
