The chocolate brown was called 'iced chocolate' but has turned out a red colour. Prior to this I'd used another semi-permanent colour, in light brown. Before all this I had natural honey/darkish blonde hair that I highlighted. I hate what I've been left with! I need to know what I should do to go back blonde! Thank you! Xx

First off if your hair was blonde to begin with that would explain the redish tinge now the only I know that gets rid of red is washing and lots of it. Red is not a natural pigment and therefore cannot hang on to hair. Washing will get it out eventually and if you do try to put die on top of it to go back to blonde your going to need to put a toner over it. A toner is essentialy the die you will be using ( *just the color* mixed with a little water) put it on top of your hair then apply the color you will be using directly to the hair. And I do not suggest a box die or a die from the drug store it will not do the trick you need some proffesional stuff. Other wise your hair could get severly damaged.

Bleaching:
Bleach is used to lighten hair. The bleach reacts with the melanin in hair, removing the color in an irreversible chemical reaction. The bleach oxidizes the melanin molecule. The melanin is still present, but the oxidized molecule is colorless. However, bleached hair tends to have a pale yellow tint. The yellow color is the natural color of keratin, the structural protein in hair. Also, bleach reacts more readily with the dark eumelanin pigment than with the phaeomelanin, so some gold or red residual color may remain after lightening.

You coudl go that way about it but it is damaging and it's iireversable. Un like semi permanent hair color or even hair die bleaching your hair is permanent it will never come off your hair, you can maks ober it but in the end your color underneath it all will always remain the same. My advice to you is to wash your hair a few timesin the shower every 2 -3 days for 3 weeks then Die over it a darker blonda and gradually wqork your way up to the color you want.

ooh sorry! I would first recommend going to a professional. If that's not an option- here you go...
You only have a couple of choices. The first would to use a color remover although, they can be very damaging to your hair. Second would be to use bleach. I would recommend the bleach. Here is how you should go about this. Get one of your friends to hi-lite your hair with bleach. if you start with the hi-lites it wont be so obvious. Then you can gradually get back to your level of color. You didn't say how long your hair is.
2 things to remember... Deep condition your hair before during and after each process. and when the bleaching is being done, if you see the "red" stage, allow the bleach to stay on longer. Your hair lightens in stages, like this...black, brown, red, red gold, dark blonde, and then lightens to blonde. Do not allow the bleach to remain on any longer than 45 mins. Good luck!

I did the same a couple of years ago - big mistake!! My hair went a greyish brown colour with a hint of green! Give up on the hair colourants and get yourself to the hair dressers pronto. Be prepared for a bit of an ear bashing about home dying and how bad it is for your hair but it'll be worth it in the end. They will probably have to give it a good cut to get rid of the damaged ends but there should be no reason why they can't put back a few highlights in and get your hair back to its normal colour. Be warned though, the drying / damaging effects of home colourant last for quite a while so make sure you use a deep conditioner regularly on your hair to nourish it.

Go to a professional, honey! I'm not going to lie, you have royally screwed up your hair. DO NOT go buy an over the counter blonde and try to color it yourself. Your hair will turn orange. Your only option is to go have it professionally stripped and bleached. I never recommend at home color. Too many things can go wrong. People pay good money to learn how to be cosmetologist and not turn hair orange. Take advantage of them!

I would recommend going to a stylist because the red pigment in your hair will be hard to get out if you don't know what to do. Red is one of the hardest colors to get out, along with black. In the mean time you could try washing your hair with dawn dish soap. This acts as a stripper and may release some of that red color. It may work a little, it may not but definitely go to a stylish to color it back.

Its best if you go to a professional and have your hair stripped out. It will cost you but would u rather be bald by doing something else wrong or go get it done by a professional that would give you something you really want..Come to my hair salon in Conn Ill help you..DO NOT BLEACH IT ON YOUR OWN

well firstly don't dye it straight away because it'll go green or something. but if u use a cheap shampoo, like head & shoulders then it should strip away the harshness of the colour and then it won't be as obvious, then either get the hairdresser to do it or wait.

what ever you do don't bleach it, it will turn green on you. if its a dark brown it has to be stripped gradually (MAY BE THREE TRIPS) other wise the first colour to go is the red then the bleach causes yellowing(together with the remaining blue from the brown die leaves GREEN).
