Production of aluminium is very energy intensive. If one is talking about production only I would say aluminium in view of the emissions and usage of resources in power generation for its production.

Try walking and bicycling more to save gas and wear and tear on your car. People really drive more than they have to. Leaving your car running outside the 7-11 only two blocks away from where you live isn't good exercise and just makes your car easier to steal so simply leave it at home. Keep lights turned off when you're not in a room. Turn off your personal computer when you aren't using it including any speakers, monitor, printer, etc you have hooked up to it. If it's a computer that has to be on a lot like at your work for example, even turning off the monitor can make a difference. There are so many things a person can do if they care enough about the environment to do it and it's not hard at all.

Hmm, good question.
Glass is a household's No. 1 self recycled item, with plastic coming in the second. Reason being, glass can be washed and easier to handle in the process. Less produced coz less demand.
Here is where the question of which needs to be produced more to meet the level of demand. Hence, my answer would be plastic.

It's an apples vs. oranges situation, so depends on exactly what you are measuring.
