Simple...they're insecure!! Who the hell cares who dates who, it shouldnt be about what color you are, its about love & respect.....people that say these things have obviously never been truly happy in their lives....when I'm happy, I could care less what others are doing, however I have noticed when I'm not happy, I'm a little more bitter...lol Dont worry about it, the stepdad will eventually come around, and if not, thats his problem!! If you make the effort, and he still can't respect you, then he doesnt deserve your respect!! Dont let them get you down, if you love him, who cares what other people think? Good luck

I'm fine with it. If he loves you keep going for it. It doesn't matter what those other stupid people think. It's perfectly exceptable to date a black man. Ever see Oprah she would tell you thats it's a good thing to date whoever you want not matter what he looks like. There was a new movie out where a white guy dated a black woman. It may be called Something New. Anyway give that to your bf's father for his birthday. Then he might get it.
Also some people these days don't seem to realize what century we're living in. This isn't the middle ages. The answer before mine is the best one so far. I even thought the black men at my college were hot. I gave one my number which was a stupid decision b/c he would rather have dated someone prettyer then me.
Good luck.

Okay two things :1 as sista I can relate to how many other black people feel about this situation. Its kind of a catch 22 because we want or men to be happy but at the same time we want them to be happy with us. Some black people feel that white woman cant relate to the struggles of a black man, can please him, or be a source of comfort when socity beats them down. On the the other hand :2 I say forget all these people and be happy with your man. This is 2006 almost 2007 lets get over this whole racial black white thing. We are all just people and I'm tired of hearing about the division among the races.

To be honest, some black women (not all, or even most, but some) have a problem with it because some black men will choose a white woman over a black woman. Honestly it hurts sometimes. We think that they feel we aren't good enough. We raised you, raised your kids, dealt with your **** and you feel a black woman isn't good enough for you. Having said that, some people are still bothered by interracial relationships. I'm not one of them. I could care less, as long as you picked the person outta love and respect and not because of their race.

It depends on where you live. Some people are just set in there ways. I was married to a man who's step mother believed in not "mixing race" because it said that in the bible. I turned to her and remarked back to her "doesn't that mean not to have sex with a goat or a sheep? We are all human and there is something called the human race." She had nothing more to say to me. I am know divorced and seeing a black man. I think in the back of my mind to send her a christmas card with our pictures, but that would just be fueling the fire. I don't see anything wrong with dating someone else. It makes no sense to me either. I just know some people are ignorant and change scares them.

I don't know why people aim at being so nasty toward one another. I've been with my husband (whose vietnamese/german) for five years now and it seems that the black people have more of a problem than the whites. Seems like you have that same problem. I think a lot of black people unfortunately look at your skin and it brings up all sorts of irrational thinking of slavery and racism. Some black people just can't accept the fact that there are millions of whites who are not prejudiced or racist.

I've never had a problem around my white friends but as soon as we try to go somewhere that's predominantly black, I get all sorts of weird stares and nasty looks. The black men look at me like i'm betraying them and the black girls look at me like I somehow think i'm better because i'm with a man who isn't black.

All I can tell you is to let that stuff roll off you. People don't like to see anyone happy, regardless of race. They just get jealous. Don't worry about it. His family is ignorant and if they can't accept you then he needs to distance himself until they realize that he's grown and capable of making his own decisions in life. As long as he's happy, it's none of their damn business.

Surround yourself with positivity. And laugh at these people - they're obviously delusional and unhappy.

Good luck.

Even though it has been years since the black slavery alot of people black and white have alot of animosity towards each other black girls hate to see a brotha with a white chick because they feel its compitition as if its game and they have lost a boy. white females and or males hate to see a black guy with a white girl becuase of the same matter except for i don't reallly think as much females have the problems as the males and if your familey has a problem with it its because they don't want black people in the familey.

I could care less who dates who. I have noticed black culture seems to be more of a show out and the women both white and black usually back up this theory by exasperating the situation. What happend to just going somewhere and not giving a $hit?

Most people don't have a problem, but there are many "closet racists" in our country and they come in all colors and religions....
Pay no attention to them. If you two love each other, that is all that matters. Some areas are worse than others.... Just know that when you have kids, they are going to get the same racist remarks. It ain't fair, it's just the way it is, unfortunately. Good luck to both of you, honey.

Their mind is on a one way track, they think that interrracial dating is wrong, and people who think that are just as stupid. Color shouldnt make a difference. Once you love the person and they treat you with respect and you do the same, i see no problem. And who ever has a problem with that you needs to tell them that this year is 2006 not 1886.
