Probably because the priest is emotionally stunted in adolescence. He has adult desires but is emotionally and sexually, in some respects, still at the age he was when the Catholic church hammered it into his head that he had been called to the priesthood.

Not all priest' molest children.Sometimes I think that maybe they were confused sexually and found the priesthood an alternative.It is a shame though, it gives the Catholics a bad rep.I am Catholic but I don't agree with men and women who chose to be celibate. GOD did not make men and women the way they are if He didn't want them to marry and have sex.You can srill be religious and have a spouse and enjoy a healthy sex life. It is not normal to have to suppress those feelings all your life.It is not the priests who molest ,it is the men who became a priest who have no business preaching GOD's love and rules while he is hangin with the devil!

We have to realize three things with this to put it into context.
First, most of the abuse was done to adolescent male boys.
So it was really a problem of homosexuality, rather than pedophilia.
The media covers that up because of its support of homosexual "rights" and to make the Church look worse.
Second of all, that problem with priests is no worse than with other groups in society.
Protestant denominations have as high or higher incidents of abuse. Public School teachers have a much higher incidence.
But that is another hatchet job by the media on the Catholic Church. They report on the Catholic priest problem, almost exclusively, to give the general pubic the impression that it is a problem endemic to Catholic priests.
The truth is, the very great majority of priests (99%+) are clean of that, and a great number are holy men of integrity.
Third, the problem did existed because bad administrators allowed men into the priesthood against the specific ruling of the Vatican that men with a homosexual orientation should not be ordained.
It was the result of disobedience to Church discipline and doctrine, not because it was followed.
But the Church has done very much now to address the problem

priest don't molest children, pedophiles do. Some pedophiles become priest because of the trust issue. Before all the drama no one ever questioned their child's safety in the presence of a priest.

Because they are sick just like all child molesters. They put themselves in a position of trust so they be can close to children. They should be in jail like all the other pedophiles!!

That is an easy one. It is very simple. "Some" priest (like some people who are not priest) are child molesters. Child molesters molest children. They are part of the family that is called the "sexually perverted".

Interesting question. I am just wondering why you chose to include the word 'priest.' There are child molesters in every walk of life. It's not something which is confined to priests, and not every priest is a paedophile. Paedophiles are very sick people and they need to be dealt with no matter what their vocation in life!

It's just a matter of loving and trusting the Lord.
Sometimes he succeeds, sometimes he doesn't. But he will always TRY.

priests molest children because they take that stupid vow of no sex. it drives them crazy then they have to have a outlet and the children suffer. they reject the Bible. for it says it is better for a person to tie a millstone around their neck and throw it into the deepest part of the ocean than to bother the littel ones. God will deal with them harshly more harshly than the usual sinner as you and I.
