How old are you? By the sound of it not very!!! Boys are growing +++++ and much more than that. They have hollow legs, and this I really earnestly mean and they eat a HUGE amount. They stay active too and this does not help. Do not worry it does not get better I have 4 brothers, 3 nephews and a son and you should see the amount of food that the gormandize. I would not have it any other way. At 16yrs they eat and need a stack esp protiens (meat, fish eggs, cheese and dairy products.) These help with the growth of strong bones and teeth and the replacement of cell breakdown. Carbohydrates and fats keep them warm and energetic (pastas, breads, rice - give plenty of rice to fill the holes and butters and cream) Vitamines and minerals from fresh fruit and vegetables to prevent diseases and LOTS of water to help with the distribution of all food stuffs and the cleansing of the body. So enjoy and what ever you do, do not cut down on his food. They become so moody it is not worth it!!

At that age, there is no limit!
What you can do is keep some snacks around. He needs to eat a good breakfast every morning (a bowl of cereal won't suffice - cereal and a couple of slices of toast, or an egg, or something, that's fine). He also should then have a snack (like a sandwich) between breakfast and lunch, and another between lunch and dinner. Then, for dinner, he needs a good one - not just salads. Yes, he needs meat - we're meat eaters, you know! It can be healthy - chicken, fish, pork, lean beef, etc. But, meat is protein, and he is working out and growing like crazy, so he needs that to keep functioning.
Then, he'll need a snack between dinner and bed time.
Just keep some healthy snacks around (fruit, veggies (I like broccolli and ranch, or celery and blue cheese dressing) - man was not meant to subsist on three squares a day!
Now, I'm hungry, so I'm gonna go get a snack!

I have a 15 year old and a 16 year old boy. There is no way to control their appetites. Why would you want to? As long as there is not a weight issue, then his body obviously needs the food he consumes. Open the refrigerator and all the cupboards and enjoy the show!!

snacks through out the day makes a big difference...it's also recommended for everyone. Peanuts, apples, oranges, etc. are great health simple, and cheap snacks. Apples really help to lower an appietite b/c of all the nutrients in the apple peel its self. Also, sometimes we might think we are hungry our body is really thirsty...so try drinking water first...and drink it regularly through out the day. Chips and Salsa is another great snack that is less fatting than potato chips....and cheap. But as far meals go, have rice (whole grain) with a meat and veggie. It is healthly, and will make him more full faster.

There is no limit, boys eat what they need to develop as they are meant. As for the no meat thing, if you are vegan then you better double up on the protein sources, it is vital to his growth right now. Remember that guys have growth spurts into their twenties, you don't want to stall that process by undernourishing him in his teens.
Make it easy for yourself, make a crockpot meal every day and let him eat the whole thing. As long as what you put into it is healthy and nourishing, crockpot meals tend to expand for some reason and that should give you a break and make him really happy.
Start cooking!

16 year old boys consume massive amounts of food!
I understand the no-meat meals, but evidently HIS body is telling him that he needs the protein in meats, unless you have studied up on how to supply non-meat proteins I would suggest that you give the boy meat!
Now if you said cake or sugars..I would say something very different!

I have a 16 yr old, and I personally like to call him my human garbage disposal because he will eat anything and everything. unless he has weight issues I would'nt worry about it , though you might have to take out a loan to pay the grocery bill...LOL also try and keep the junk food to a minimum

You can't. If there isn't an issue of weight there is no need. I hope he is getting proteins from some other source if you aren't fixing meat. He may however perfer to have some. Can you fix him something meat related?

He's a growing boy. Boys tend to be more active at that age and need all the fuel they can get. So my advise is to let him eat...unless he has a weight problem.
