I 've had my moroe piercing for about 3 weeks now. theres a dark area around it. Kind of like a blemish. not really bad. but noticable. its like the same thing you would get around a belly button or ear piercing. anyone ever had this problem? How can i get rid of this?

I wouldn't try to cover it with makeup..it may cause it to get infected.

Go to the place where you had it pierced and make sure that it is fine and ask them what they recommend to get rid of it or how you can cover it up.

Good luck!

Dont try to cover this area up with make up and don't remove the jewelry.

That sounds to me like the jewelry in the piercing is of poor quality. Is is surgical stainless steel? Because thats all that should be in there. Generally metal jewelry high in tin, iron and other cheap substances will cause discoloring around all piercings: new and old. I would check to make sure the jewelry is of good quality.

Another thing is make sure you are cleaning it as you were instructed to do so. If there is a bump or pimple like formation, you will need to be continue cleaning the piercing and use hot compresses to reduce the swelling. Also, make sure you are not using any harsh cleaning products such as: alcohol, epsom or table salt, mouth wash with alcohol, peroxide, neosporin or bactine. Most of those products will irritate the piercing and cause problems like this and others.

If I had a picture or was able to see the piercing, it would be easier to know if there is anything else. But it might also be the start of a keloid or abscess, so be careful and look for a large bump forming and keep an eye out for inflamation and pain and excess puss.

Sounds like it's starting to form a keloid - a type of scar tissue that's raised and pigmented. Being Asian (like I am) or African-American puts you at a higher risk of having your scars keloid like that. I took most of my piercings out because after a couple weeks or a couple months, I'd notice the keloids start around the site of the piercing. Some keloids will grow and grow - others will stop, but you'll still have the scar tissue for a long time.

Wikipedia said this is a way to treat keloids:

If the dark area is not raised like scar tissue, maybe it's just from improperly-fitting jewelry (too tight) or bad jewelry that's causing your skin to turn colors.

Good luck

The problem could be that your have a allergy to the earring .Try 14kt gold instead of sterling silver.Take the Monroe earring out for a day or two and add cocoa butter to the dark area.Don't leave it out for two long because you don't want the Monroe to close up and then you will have to have it re-pierced.I think you need to buy a new earring...and don't forget to clean it with alcohol when you have it in for a long period of time.

There's no way t get rid of it... It normal to a small dark ring around your piercing... W/time it should fade away and try to keep it clean buy some alcohol wipes and use them after you eat. Saliva carries bacteria that can make the ring dark...

He/She is experienced in the infectious areas of piercings. college Nurses ugh. do no longer hear to them 0.5 the time. it quite is in the healing technique. it gets purple and itchy... Itchiness potential it healing. wow.....i have never seen that kind of piercing before....neat!!!

have you tried different things like sea salt and such to clean it really good? if you have and it is still there...i go to someplace that does piercings and ask them what you should do....maybe a different place than where you had it done in case it was done wrong (they wouldn't admit to a problem that they may have caused) go someplace else and ask them but don't say who did it.....

GOOD LUCK!!!

It's one of the unfortunate fall backs in wearing cranium jewelery.

Next time, think twice before punching holes in your face it COULD be infected!
