Well the Marines did come out with the digital Cammies first. And as for the Tan boots, its easier for them to keep clean. But as for the Marines wearing black berets it wont happen. The Marines try to be orignal, cant help it if everyone wants to try and follow the Marines.

We've been in 18 years. I still can't get used to the new ACU's. Hubby likes the ease of getting dressed now though. It's kind of give and take though because you can't dry them or the Velcro gets all messed up and nasty. But, because of the Velcro, patches and such are easier to put on.

As far as the boots go, it's because they match better. However, the tan boots can't be cleaned. When they're dirty they're really dirty and they look bad. At least the black boots could be polished and looked sharp. The tan boots have a softer sole and wear out a whole lot faster too. Try being a mechanic and working in those tan boots....YUCK!!

My man will look good in his uniform no matter what changes they make. Of that, I'm certain!!

Personally, I think you are wrong. The Marines have the nicest uniforms. Then of course I like the Navy's because my uncle was a Seaman. But to answer your question about the boots is because the tan boots mix better in the desert than the black ones. This is also why they are wearing the sand colored uniforms rather than the green ones. Also, light colored clothing reflects the sun's rays and keeps you cooler than darker clothing.

They wear tan boots because they match the uniform and also because they blend in better in a desert environment. When they are in the field or deployed they don't wear the beret, so it doesn't matter. Also, the tan boots are much easier to keep in good condition as they don't require shining and polishing every day to keep them looking good and performing the way they are supposed to. I personally hate the way the ACUs and tan boots look, but it's nice not to have to iron uniforms and shine boots all the time!

well firs off the army got their uniform idea from the marines, who changed their uniform so they wouldn't look like the other branches. they wear brown boots because they don't stand out like shiny black ones. as for berets you are crazy if you think marines would wear them. but i agree the digital uniforms are ugly as hell.

Because the ACU's are so pastel that they'd look even goofier with black on both ends!!!

1. I think the Army ACU's look like pajamas. Since they're wash and wear, there seems to be a much lower standard in personal appearance. Not to mention the colors are so light they look like they'd glow in the dark when worn anywhere BUT the desert.
2. The tan boots CAN be cleaned, they have kits for that. It drives me nuts some days that my husband wears his from his last deployment, but you would be amazed at the stuff that came out of those boots with the Kiwi cleaning kit. But unless you save a pair for special ceremonies, you can't get that nice snazzy look with suede like you could with shined black leathers.
3. The ACU's dry so fast on their own that you can wash them at 2200 and they're ready to go the next morning. Hanging them up fresh from the washer makes them look nicer, even besides the velcro, than hanging them up fresh from the dryer.
4. Soldiers are grown-ups and can prep their own stuff. What ever wives felt it was on their list of chores to iron uniforms and shine boots, I'm sorry for you.

it would LOOK nicer but they would be ridiculed mercilessly for looking like army homo's. if the Marines ever adopt a beret, i'll go AWOL. that army uniform's only advantage over the Marine's is that it can (in theory) be used effectively in all environmens, though i'd say it would only work maybe in a half-snowy environment, an arid environment, and a concrete-city environment. Besides, if you haven't noticed, wearing the army uniform adds like 20lbs to your look.

General issue boots tend to be black.

The tan boots, are generally desert boots. Here in Canada, people deploying to Afghanistan start wearing their desert boots about two months before they head out so they are nice and broken in by the time they hit the Sandbox.

The Beret will come off & they will be camoflouged completely.
I agree but since my son is a US Army Ranger, I am bigoted towards Army. They all look great in their uniforms.

I have to agree with "Woody1970". They've all got very nice uniforms, while the Marine Corps has the best one.
