I always go overboard with my niece, for example, last year I bought about 10 barbies, doll car, house, limo, easy bake oven, clothes, games, barbie shopping mall, smore maker, aand probably other things I cannot think of. I am carazy about her, about her but I go way overboard, she has gifts from 2 years ago she still has not opened.

For those who called her a brat, she is a sweet and very good child... She donates toys she does not open every year.

That is alot of stuff to recieve from an aunt! How about adopting a child around her age from an angel tree? You could take her shopping with you to choose gifts for the child. It will teach her the joy of making someone elses' Christmas happy, and you will probably have lots of fun shopping together. Let her pick out 1 gift for herself from you. You could even have a "slumber party" night to wrap all the gifts.

As the mom of a 7 and 2 year old and the aunt of a 12 and 14 year old........
Here are, hands down, the absolute two best gifts you can give your niece:
1 - a savings bond - completely boring, but oh my how she'll thank you when she's 22! If you give her a savings bond for her birthday, Christmas and other gift giving occassions, they'll really add up.
2 - a day - a whole day - with her dear aunt doing whatever she absolutely loves to do - or something she's never done before. Could be a day getting her nails and toes done along with a nice lunch; a trip to the amusement park; or a train ride to a nearby city to explore and eat at a fancy restaurant. If you do this, make a nice certificate for her and plan the day to happen sometime during her Christmas break. Or, if you're waiting for a specific special event, make a miniposter for it to put in a frame and wrap for her. These gifts are the ones my 7 year old talks about and remembers - she has no idea who gave her which Barbie 2 years ago, but she still talks about when Aunt Sara took her to the zoo.

If I were the parent, I'd encourage you to tone it down a bit. That's a huge list of gifts and I'm sure you aren't the only one who gives her stuff at the holidays. Imagine trying to fit all that PLUS the gifts the child got from Santa and other relatives into the house! Instead of tons of toys, why not one or two really super cool things, maybe a new outfit and then if you want to spend more money on her, buy her savings bonds for college. Find out if there are any computer or Gameboy or Xbox games she really wants. If you have a lot to spend, get her an iPod.

You obviously love your neice very much, so why not spend some time with her? Pick out a place to get her a gift certificate to or maybe a couple of places and set a date after christmas to spend the day with her and take her shopping. Maybe even take her to get a manicure and pedicure between stores (sounds silly but my 9 year old absolutely loves getting pedicures). In the end not only will she have something she will likely open and use because she picked it out herself, but she will also have a memory of a wonderful day spent with you. Kind of a present for both of you. This is something my sister in laws always do for my girls for their birthdays and they always look forward to it.
If you don't live within driving distance you might try asking her what she really wants for christmas that way your getting her something you know she wants.

I think something from the heart is always best.
Why don't you give her an "auntie and niecie" day trip out of town to go to the spa together, get your nails done, facials, etc.
Or tickets to the local pool so you can take her.
You can get personalized stuffed bears online with her pic and something nice to say to her.
A locket for her neck, no not real gold.
Magazine subscription for kids. Books, books books!
Put money into her college education fund!
Present" coming to auntie for a spa day" by giving her a fluffy robe and slippers, then promising a day at your house with facials, foot soaks, and pedicures, and girl stuff without the cost of a spa.

If she's anything like my nine-year-old she's starting to get sentimental about stuff (remember when we....?) So I'd say give her a day of YOU. Go shopping, get your hair/nails done, eat at a place of her choosing....yep McDonald's counts!
If you're schedule won't allow that or you live too far away for this to be a practical solution, why not help her start a collection? This could also be a long-term solution to a yearly problem of what to get what to do. There is also the added benefit of how it could benefit her financially years from now if the collection is one that will amass value (i.e. stamps, coins).

this is one spoiled child. If she donates her unopened toys to charity that should tell you she is getting too many. If she does this why not donate toys in her name to charity or get a well built in a 3rd world country in her name and one small gift to open on the day. Children do not need so many things that they are unopened two years later. Put your money to better use

A plush animal is always good! Jewlery is fun too. I wouldn't get her any more Barbies, because she is at the age when she is starting to get a little more mature, and a barbie might make her immature.
