what are you doing in religion and spirituality?

Religion along with politics is one of the most controversial issues. It's fun to debate and discuss views. Bashing just happens to come along with it as these are such heated issues. That's part of this forum.

David M, you should check out some my answers. I do not belong to any religion. Spiritual in nature, I'd like to think, but that's why this forum is so much fun. People have very strong opinions and such a variety. Sometimes it's even educational.

Jessica, I'm glad to see you understand where I'm coming from. That is what free speech is all about. You asked people to not express their offensive opinions, but that's what this place is for, expressing opinions. There are plenty of opinions I don't agree with on here, but they are fun and sometimes funny to read.

I am not offended by differing opinions. To the contrary, I read them with interest and learn from them (at least the serious ones). What does offend me is anyone trying to force his views on everyone else through legislation or insistence that their particular religion is favored above all others.

Oh so along side of thinking only you will be saved, you think only you should have an opinion?

You just underlined why so many people are becoming intolerant of the religious zealots!!!!!

Try analysing what goes on in Answers - religions try and dictate, criticise and preach, whilst the answers against tend mainly to request that non believers be given the same consideration of the freedom to worship and live how they wish without hinder. Christians appear totally intollerant of anyone who does not agree with their faith!!!!

All religions are tools of the upper class and politically entrenched to control the proletariate. There is no "right" religion as there is no realm of spirit at all. All religions have been manipulated and will continue to be manipulated by people in power to help control the populace and or further political agendas. Islam is used to enforce mysogeny and also to striate along tribal/cultural lines. Protestantism is used to appease the poor. Catholicism to further the political agendas of the Vatican, etc.. etc.. And of course all are based on works contrived and edited so many times they have lost their true meaning. All religions are evil as they are contolled by evil men. Just because a person wants to believe there is an afterlife, or that their religion condones a grisly beheading of an innocent, does not mean it is true. It is all lies. In short, all religious opinions offend me as they offend truth and do their best to take away the dignity of men.

Not at all. I'm offended sometimes by people who get defensive when confronted with a difference of opinion. Makes me question the validity of their own faith. if I encounter a difference of opinion and I find myself thinking "Oh, that guy is just wrong" (and it happens) I'm usually not so concerned about me being right, I'm more interested in what it is about that person which has led him/her to have these opinions. My own beliefs are based upon what I've concluded according to the information I've been given and those experiences I've had which seem to make certain conclusions more plausible to me than others. Also I am aware that my ability enabling me to see in totality all things as they truly are is limited and so even if I think sometimes I'm right, I am still open to the possibility that I'm not. I'm always open to making myself available to new insights.

This question is pointed in my direction I know. I'm not so much offended as pissed off. It is a very contravesal issue. I'm in religion and spirituality because I feel that my issues need to be addressed just as much as your issues are. If you can be in religion and spirituality and bash peoples religion, then i should be able to express my opnions on you bashes our religions in religion and spirituality. So if you feel that I am not welcome here, then you should look at yourself. We are all allowed our own opinions, I just get highly aggitated when people try to over power others opinions!

Good point. I am not offened when someone slams Christianity or me as a Christian. But some people just want a fight so they come here. I think to their credit though, better they fight over religious views than whose football team is better. Plus just maybe someone could be reached. You never know.

Not offended at all. Though sometimes I feel sorry for those who feel like they have to put down others religions. I think they are not secure in their own religion.

Honestly, I'm not offended. It seems others may get all worked up over others opinions, but I'm comfortable with my beliefs and simply stand up for them. If anything, I feel pity for them.
