I think its weird that nobody has more than one religion. If you can have two nationalities, why can't you have two religions? What if you believed in both of them and both of them you liked very much? Do we always have to choose only 1 religion? And if so, why?

Since you must have two parents, it is entirely possible they came from two different nations, thus your two different nationalities.

There is only ONE God who is the WAY, TRUTH, and the LIFE.

Why would this ONE God create multiple belief systems with competing ideals? Be aware of the difference between the True Church founded by Jesus Himself, and those founded by mere people.

Religions aren't just something you inherit... a religion is a belief system.

If you can believe in more than one religion then, um.. you can believe in more than one religion. Guess it depends largely on what those two are and possibly some of your interpretations of holy texts. From what little I know of Hinduism I don't think this is really an impossibility... some people get caught up on the use of "gods", but really, the word is just used differently... obviously there can't be more than one God as Christians use the word, but how Hindus do is synonymous with "angels" or "saints" for the most part, I think.

As many have stated. One of the things a Catholic promises is to raise the children Catholic. You can have respect for Hinduism, but you made a promise to raise them Catholic (did you not? Or were you not married in the Church?) Baptism is not just a sign, it's a Sacrament. It allows grace to flow to the child because through baptism Original Sin has been erased and thus the child can be reconciled to God. This isn't something to be taken lightly. Those who are not baptized will not receive those graces. Though you should have them validly baptized by the Church, you can also baptize them yourself using water from the sink or wherever if you feel their soul is in danger. There aren't as many graces given as through a Catholic baptism, but at least your children will be baptized. Talk to your husband. You should've talked to your husband about this before you two got married because the religion of the child is important. I would not recommend letting the child decide though at a later time. You need to give the child some kind of structure.

These two religions have entirely different beliefs and doctrines. The Catholics believe in resurrection, and the Hindus believe in reincarnation. Catholics say that they go to heaven because of Jesus' resurrection. Hindus maintain that Nirvana can only be reached through good works earned through multiple incarnations. Hinduism predates the other major religions. Judaism, Christianity and Islam are more similar to each other. The original Buddhism doesn't even believe in gods.

You don't have to choose any religion. Be a seeker after truth. It is a lifelong endeavour.

I say go for it! I believe that Hiduism and Catholicism are not mutually exculsive. Read into the Baghavad Gita (sorry if I misspelled that), or other Krishna-centric writings and you'll find that Krishna is more than accepting of different faiths, he feels that instead true devotion (bhakti) to a true god/ the Ultimate Reality is what is most important.

If you're asking if you can judge your nationality on your parent's religions, sure, why not?! Granted it would probably be more accurate to tell people you're half Indian or some such, but ultimately you determine how you want to be viewed in this particular way.

I've never thought that people had to chose to be part of only one religion. Although, if you were, say,a Muslim or Jew, you probably could not also be a Christian.

In case of Children born to parents of different religion generally supposed to take the father's religion. But there is no compulsion on any one. You can take any religion which you like and which accept you and your faith. You can also take both religions for any purpose. you can say you are a Catholic or Hindu or both as wanted by the circumstances.

The beliefs are pretty incompatible. It's possible to have 2 religions if the basic tenets aren't mutually exclusive. I've known Unitarian Universalist Buddhists.

Because the beliefs of different religions might be at odds with each other. You can have 2 religions if you want. You have that right in this country.
