Lazarus lives on in some sense or another; the tales of Christ have immortalised him in the history books.
An interesting prospect could be that the Lazarus we know of in the present day - as a memorialised personality - could well have been what Jesus brought to life; the memories of the relatives and friends present given form. After all, such is the image of Jesus himself when we read of him after the crucifixion.

Though the Bible doesn't say when, Lazarus did die a second time. The reason is that if Christ had left him alive after resurrecting him, then all His promises concerning the Church, the resurrection and etc. would've been lies, for Lazarus would've been the only one to go through what Christ promised ALL believers SIMULTANEOUSLY. Therefore, he did die again. Jesus only raised Lazarus in the first place so that all that witnessed the event might bear witness to others of the power we could all have in Christ over the grave. Remember, Jesus said that He'd only be dead 3 days when He was crucified. Lazarus had been dead 4 days and his flesh had "seen corruption" or in other words, began to decay, which is another reason that Christ waited 4 days to raise Lazarus or there would've been no discernment between His and Lazarus' resurrection.

He did die again.
When he resurrected Lazarus, Jesus showed what the power of God can do. He showed what could be done in the future.
Interestingly, the resurrection of Lazarus teaches us many things. Did you notice that when he was brought back to life, Lazarus didn't say that he had been anywhere else? To him, it was like the next moment after death (even though he'd been dead for parts of four days). If he had gone to heaven (as many religions teach), then he would have said so.
This, (along with many other scriptures) teaches us the truth about death. That, at death we are conscious of nothing with only the future ressurrection on the earth as a prospect.

JOHN 5:28,29
PSALM 37:29

The best known of Jesus’ resurrection miracles was that performed in behalf of his close friend Lazarus. In this case, there was a delay between Lazarus’ death and Jesus’ arrival at the family home. When Jesus finally reached Bethany, Lazarus had been dead for four days. When Jesus instructed that the stone covering the entrance to the burial chamber be removed, Martha objected, saying: “Lord, by now he must smell, for it is four days.” (John 11:39) Yet, any deterioration of Lazarus’ body did not prevent the resurrection. At Jesus’ command, “the man that had been dead came out with his feet and hands bound with wrappings, and his countenance was bound about with a cloth.” The subsequent actions of Jesus’ enemies prove that it was indeed Lazarus who had come back to life.
What do we conclude from these four resurrection accounts? "Elijah restored Zarephath boy's life, Elisha brought back to life a young boy, Jesus caught sight of a widow who had lost her only son, and He resurrected this young man, then we have Lazarus" Each resurrected individual returned to life as the same person. All were recognized, even by their closest relatives. None of the resurrected spoke of what had occurred during the short time they were dead. None spoke of traveling to another world. Apparently, they all returned in good health. For them, it was as though they slept for a while and then woke up, even as Jesus intimated. Nevertheless, after some time each of these died again.

Lazarus would have died again as Jesus Christ opened,or inaugurated the way to being resurrected to life in heaven.
The miracle of Lazarus' resurrection served well as part of Jesus' ministry, both to illustrate the power of the Son of God and to increase faith in him and the resurrection.
Therefore Lazarus,as millions of others is asleep in death awaiting a resurrection to earthly life.(Acts 24:15;Ps.37:29)

Yep, he would have died again because he wasn't resurrected as Christ was (meaning being brought back to life in a glorified and immortal way). He was just brought back to a normal, mortal life, which means he would be subject to death again. We know this because Jesus was the first to be resurrected, and Lazarus being brought back to life happened before that.

Lazarus must have had a great ministry, don't you think. The word says that they tried to keep away from Lazarus because of his testimony.
Think about it, he was an Egyptian Jew. He would have been mummified. heart, tongue, brain removed. wrapped in bindings. all replaced by Jesus when he was brought out of the tomb.
just like Jesus does for us. New everything, and a testimony to share.

I always wondered why Lazarus never said anything after he was raised from the dead.

He died again, this is one of the reasons Jesus wept at the news. He knew that Lazerus would have to die again, but this time he would not go to Hell like he did the first time he died.
