It's difficult to get region-specific answers on here because of the diversity. Your best bet would be to ask around. See if anyone in your neighborhood takes their pets to her and what they think of her and her practice. Sometimes, an initial visit can tell you a lot about a vet. If they're willing to talk with you about a lot of things, ask questions, and treat your animal with care, you get a pretty good idea of their practices. I went to our current vet on a whim (Okemos Animal Hospital) and I absolutely LOVE the vet there. He's fantastic.

Young and bossy, can be condescending, but must certainly love animals because she takes her job very seriously. We got a lecture about our puppy not gaining enough weight when we were off by 2 pounds. We much prefer the senior vet, Dr. Lemke – she’s awesome.
